The WCF RIA Services is a framework that provides a pattern to write application logic that runs on the mid-tier and controls access to data for queries, changes and custom operations.

Overview

WCF RIA Services simplifies the traditional n-tier application pattern by bringing together the ASP.NET and Silverlight platforms. RIA Services provides a pattern to write application logic that runs on the mid-tier and controls access to data for queries, changes and custom operations. It also provides end-to-end support for common tasks such as data validation, authentication and roles by integrating with Silverlight components on the client and ASP.NET on the mid-tier.

System Requirements

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7; Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 3

Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Windows 7 , Windows XP SP2 with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 or Visual Web Developer Express 2008 SP1. Note: that if you are not using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you will need to install this Hotfix.
