Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 code name "R2" - August 2009 CTP is the third pre-release build of the next version of Commerce Server. Please note that this pre-release build is not feature complete.

Important
We invite you to install this pre-release version of Commerce Server 2009 “R2” into a non-production environment to learn how Commerce Server 2009 “R2” provides an improved business management experience, enhanced cross-channel enablement with 3-tier development and deployment support, and a more streamlined deployment experience. It is recommended that you install this pre-release on a clean machine and consult the Installation Guide for manual steps required.
The August CTP release includes the following new features:
Multi-tier development support
Business Administration Ribbon
Integrated template pack
Configuration wizard
Note: Given the pre-release nature of this release, not all functionality is currently available. The release is for evaluation purposes only and is not intended to be used in a production environment. The August CTP will not function after March 31, 2010.
Single-server deployments are supported, which consists of running all the Commerce Server 2009 "R2" components and software requirements (including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft SQL Server) on a single computer. The single-server deployment uses the following software products:
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) and Microsoft Windows critical updates
IIS 7.0
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise (64-bit)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1
Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) SP2 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) SP2
Note: this pre-release has only been tested on English platforms. Future versions will be verified on localized platforms.

button on this page to start the download of the .iso image. This is pre-release software and is best installed on a clean machine. Thus, please take note of the following:
Setup and Configuration is not yet final in this release. The Configuration wizard will walk you through much of the process, but it is essential that you consult the Installation Guide to successfully install the CTP.
Important: If you are deploying the Solution Storefront, there are mandatory configuration tasks that you must complete. Please refer to “Configuring the SharePoint Commerce Services for the Solution Storefront” in the Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 “R2” Installation Guide for the following mandatory configuration tasks:
Unpacking Commerce Server Web Services
Configuring Authorization Stores
Specifying the Solution Storefront Channel and Catalog
Configuring Search functionality on the Solution Storefront Site
Configuring Permissions for Authenticated Users
You must UNINSTALL all previous Commerce Server versions. Leveraging a clean system that has never had a previous version of a Commerce Server installed upon it is strongly recommended.
The Commerce Server 2009 "R2" product documentation will automatically be installed as part of setup and will replace the existing Commerce Server 2007 documentation set. Once installed, you can review the documentation by going to
Start>All Programs>Microsoft Commerce Server 2009>Documentation>Commerce Server Documentation.
CTPs are for evaluation purposes only and are intended only for short-term use in a test environment. This CTP will not function after March 2010.
