Microsoft Word 97, 98, and 2000 Converter for the Macintosh

Users of Microsoft Word 5.1 or Word 6.x for the Macintosh can now open documents created in Word 97 for Windows. This converter also makes it possible for Word 5.1 or Word 6.x users to open documents created in Word 98 for the Macintosh.

Overview

Users of Microsoft Word 5.1 or Word 6.x for the Macintosh can now open documents created in Word 97 for Windows. This converter also makes it possible for Word 5.1 or Word 6.x users to open documents created in Word 98 for the Macintosh.

Previously, if you were running Word 5.1 or Word 6.x for the Macintosh and you wanted to open a document created in Word 97, the person who created the document had to save the file in a format you could work with.

Note: International support is also included with this update.

Instructions

  1. Make sure that you have enough hard disk space available before beginning installation.
  2. Click the Download link to start the download.
  3. Click Save or Save this program to disk.
  4. Double-click the file to begin installation.
  5. Follow the instructions in the Word 97-98-2000 Import Converter Installer dialog box.
  6. Click Install to continue the installation.

If you are using Word 5.1: When the Word 97-98-2000 Converter Installer dialog box prompts you for an installation location, enter your Word Commands folder.
If you are using Word 6.x:, the Word 97-98-2000 Converter Installer dialog box automatically selects your Word Extensions folder as the installation location.
