Volunteer Efforts at Convergence 2011 Atlanta
Convergence has left a positive impact through volunteerism on the communities visited for the past three years—and we made quite an impact this year in Atlanta, leaving hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of impact on one community!
This year’s offsite projects benefited inner city children and families with the construction and installation of playground equipment such as swings and teeter totters, at a low-income apartment complex. The housing development services thousands of children who were already testing out the new equipment before our buses even pulled away! Dozens of our volunteers also worked on updating a nearby community center with landscaping, painting and construction of some “play areas” including horseshoe pits, and still others gave a facelift to a neighborhood satellite library. These projects made a huge difference in their lives and brought hope to an area that often feels forgotten.
Take a look at the impact Convergence volunteers had on one Atlanta Community during Convergence on Sunday, April 10:
We send a sincere THANK YOU to all of you who came out to volunteer on April 10. Your efforts truly made a difference! We hope even more of you will join us in 2012.
Onsite Volunteer Opportunity: Monday, April 11 to Wednesday, April 13
Convergence attendees were also invited to participate in an onsite opportunity at any time during the Convergence event (located within the Community and Learning Center). They were able to help complete 6 colorful murals and 150 painted ceiling tiles for a local hospital, The Shepard Center, in the Atlanta area.
