How do I register for Convergence?

Visit the Registration page to review registration information, and to register for the event.

What does my registration include?

Full conference registration includes access to all keynotes, sessions, meals, Convergence Experience Center (which includes the Expo Experience, Microsoft Solutions Experience, and Community Experience), evening events and exclusive attendee tools & resources such as Schedule Builder. For specific information on alternative passes, including Day Passes, Convergence Experience Center Only passes and Convergence Celebration Only passes, please visit the registration information page.

How do I reserve a hotel room?

You may reserve a hotel room during the online registration process. Convergence has secured special negotiated hotel rates for the event dates (from $156-199 USD per night). Visit the hotel page to view a list of the hotels secured for Convergence 2014. Note that hotel blocks will be released after February 12, so availability within the city will become more limited after that time.

Are spouses and/or kids allowed to attend conference activities?

The event and all related conference activities are for registered attendees only. Convergence Celebration Guest passes are available for purchase for guests that are 21 years old and older (the Convergence Celebration:FUNtastic takes place Thursday, March 6 from 8:30-11:00pm). No children or infants are allowed at any conference-sponsored activities or receptions. If child care is needed, please check with your hotel.

What if I have a special need or request?

You will be able to indicate any special needs you may have through the registration process. Or you may also contact the Convergence registration team at Convergence2014@microsoft.crgevents.com.

What are the hours of registration check-in onsite at the event?

You are encouraged to check-in on Monday, March 3 to avoid the rush on Tuesday morning prior to the opening keynote.

New this year! Additional registration check-in hours are also offered at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel. If you are staying at this hotel, or at a location close-by, this is an easy and convenient option for picking-up your event credentials.

Will my information be shared with others at the event, and how will my privacy be protected?

Where can I find an overall Convergence agenda?

Visit the agenda page for a high-level agenda with conference times and activities. An agenda is also included in the Conference Guide handed out at registration check-in. Check out the Conference Guide ahead of time by downloading the digital version now.

How can I find specific session information?

The Session catalog includes a listing of Keynote Sessions, General Sessions, Concurrent Sessions, Deep Dive Sessions, Interactive Discussions, User Group Sessions, and Roundtable Discussion, and allows attendees to search on sessions by a variety of different tags (such as track, level, audience, etc.). Registered attendees can now login to a secured page to build their own personal session schedule. Please note that adding sessions to your calendar does not guarantee a seat — sessions are seated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Is there an opportunity to earn CPE credits for my attendance?

A CPE Tracking Form, which allows attendees to track their session attendance and hours, is now available. Award of official CPE credits will be determined by the requirements of each local State Board of Accountancy. Please note: Microsoft cannot guarantee compliance with the official requirements of the NASBA or individual State Accountancy Boards and cannot be held responsible for any CPE credits that are not awarded due to our inactive sponsorship with the NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy). Is there a way to provide feedback on the sessions and the event overall?

Your feedback is extremely important to us. Please help us continue to improve Convergence by sharing your experience and your assessment of the sessions you attended. Evaluations can be completed in the following ways:

In appreciation for your input, we will be giving out fun prizes. To enter, complete and submit an evaluation form. You will receive notification if you have won a chance to spin the wheel. Winners will be able to spin the wheel to determine their prize at the Main Convergence Information Desk located in the Registration Hall Foyer between Buildings A and B.

In addition, for every attendee who completes an evaluation, $1 will be donated to Spirit of Atlanta – a premier, non-profit youth organization that focuses on the growth and development of its members within the Southeast region.

Will there be areas at the Convention Center where I can easily meet with colleagues?

Yes, there will be multiple ‘Meeting Point’ locations in the Convention Center that will include tables and chairs, WiFi access, and power for your convenience. Please check the venue maps in the Conference Guide.

What other opportunities are there to network at Convergence?

There are tons of great opportunities! Please see the Networking page for a full range of options that will help you connect with your fellow attendees, partners and Microsoft experts. The Convergence Experience Center (CEC) acts as the hub of the conference, and includes our Expo Experience, Microsoft Solutions Experience and Community Experience areas. The networking opportunities are endless — plan to spend some quality time within the CEC!

Is there available space at any nearby hotels to hold side meetings?

The Side Meeting Request Tool was available to assist registered Convergence attendees in planning ancillary meetings. The tool is now closed to allow venues to finalize contracts. All space will be released and any additional side meeting requests need to be sent to Kari Riley. Venues will review any additional requests on a case by case basis, and will determine if they can accommodate the request.

Will you have any volunteer/community outreach opportunities again at Convergence?

Yes, we will have both offsite and onsite community outreach opportunities. Registration is required for the offsite opportunity only (on Monday, March 3). You will be able to register for the off-site activity during the event registration process. For a description of volunteer opportunities, please see the Community Outreach page. Where in Atlanta will the event be held?

The primary location for Convergence 2014 will be the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), located at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30313. The keynotes and the Convergence Celebration on Thursday evening will be held at Philips Arena, located right across the street from GWCC.

Will parking be available at the convention center?

Parking is available and Convergence has negotiated a discount on the daily rate.

Will there be airport transportation available?

Airport transportation is the responsibility of each attendee. However, Convergence will be offering non-stop airport service from the GWCC to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday, March 7 between 8:00am–1:00pm, with shuttles departing every 30 minutes. Cost is $20 USD per person, payable with cash or credit card. Attendees can make reservations at the Airport Transportation Desk conveniently located in the Registration Hall at the GWCC. Reservations can be made on Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6 (8:00am–5:00pm) and on Friday, March 7 (8:00am–12:00pm).

Will there be shuttle transportation available?

Complimentary conference shuttle transportation will run in the morning and in the afternoon between Convergence hotels and the Georgia World Congress Center. Hours of operation are listed below. Please check the Conference Guide that you’ll receive at registration check-in for specific shuttle routes and additional information.

Note that the following hotels in the Convergence hotel block are within walking distance of GWCC, with no shuttle service will be provided: Omni Hotel at CNN Center, Embassy Suites Atlanta - at Centennial Olympic Park, The Glenn Hotel, and the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown.

Is there recommended dress attire while attending Convergence?

Business casual is appropriate attire while attending sessions at Convergence. Please note that it can be cool within the meeting rooms at the convention center and arena; please plan to bring a sweater or jacket for your personal comfort level. Casual evening attire is appropriate for the Convergence Celebration.

The weather in Atlanta during this timeframe is typically around 63 degrees for a high and a low of 42 degrees.

What meals will be provided at Convergence?

Conference meals include breakfast and lunch and will be served in the Attendee Meal Hall located in Building A, Halls 1 – 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center, March 4–6, 2014. Breakfast will also be provided on March 7 (within the Convergence Experience Center in Hall B2-B4). If you pre-order a Kosher, Halal or other specific meal, you may pick it up at the designated Special Meal Buffet which is located in the rear of the Meal Hall. Lighter food and beverages will also be provided at the Convergence Celebration:FUNtastic and the Convergence Experience Reception.

Will business services be available?

The GWCC has a business center operated by FedEx with onsite services for all your business needs. They are located in the Registration Lobby between buildings A and B. A wide range of supplies and services including shipping, high volume copying, faxing and more is available.

Will luggage check be available?

Although Convergence recommends leaving personal belongings at your hotel, Convergence will offer luggage check at the GWCC during the event. Laptops and coats/jackets will not be accepted. Convergence luggage check is complimentary to attendees.

Can I use my cell phone or camera?

Yes, but we do ask that you be considerate of other attendees. Please turn your cell phone to the silent mode while you are in sessions and do not use cell phones in the session rooms. Out of respect for our presenters, we ask that no flash photography, video and/or audio recorders, or laser pointers be used during any session.

Will there be Wi-Fi available?

Yes, wireless internet access will be available throughout most areas of Convergence. Please consult your conference guide for specific access information and other technical tips.

Will there be a first aid station?

For routine medical assistance, there will be three first aid stations at the GWCC. These stations will be open during conference hours only.

  • Building A, Room A3 located at the entrance to Hall A3
  • Building B, Room B410
  • Building C, Room C1 located at the entrance to Hall C1

There will also be a first aid station at Philips Arena, across from Portal 9, behind sections 117-118, available during keynote times on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Will there be a location where I can meditate/pray?

Yes. Convergence has set aside a room dedicated for this purpose, and will be available during conference hours. The prayer room will located in the GWCC in Building A, Level 3, room 308B. This will be available during the keynote times as well.

Will there be a private location available for nursing mothers?

Yes. This room will be open during conference hours only, and will be located at the GWCC, Building A, Level 4, room 401. This will be available during the keynote times as well.

Power and a small shared refrigerator will be available in this room.

Is smoking permitted in the facilities?

Smoking is not allowed throughout the Georgia World Congress Center or Philips Arena. Please utilize designated smoking areas outside the facilities.

Evening Events
Are there evening events happening at Convergence?

There will be two main evening events at Convergence that you won’t want to miss:

Join us in the heart of the action—the Convergence Experience Center—to kick things off on Tuesday, March 4! From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, the Convergence Experience Reception offers you a chance to explore the amazing resources and activities available all week in the CEC, including the hottest solutions and services offered by Microsoft partners from around the world, and endless opportunities to make new connections. Food and beverages will be served during this, our biggest night of networking.

On Thursday, March 6, we’re excited to invite you to Convergence Celebration: FUNtastic! This exclusive concert event at Philips Arena will feature GRAMMY award winning band FUN. as they perform their unique style of music with songs like “Carry On”, “Some Nights”, and “We Are Young”.

Doors will open as early as 8:30pm so you can get the best concert seat in the house, with the show kicking off at 9:30pm. We recommend that you enjoy dinner beforehand at any one of Atlanta’s fantastic restaurants; concession stands will be open serving beverages, along with fun concert snacks (think popcorn, pretzels, and desserts). You can also stop by the Hawks Shop on the main concourse, where Atlanta Hawks merchandise will be available for purchase during the concert.

Attendees will receive a flyer with additional details about FUNtastic during registration check-in onsite. This flyer will also include a detachable wristband that attendees must wear for access into Philips Arena (Note: be sure not to misplace it or a fee may apply to replace). For Guest Pass information and purchase, please visit the Registration page or stop by the Registration Desk onsite at the GWCC (guests must be 21 and older).

What is Schedule Builder?

Schedule Builder, a tool within the secured portion of the Convergence website, provides attendees the ability to ‘add’ sessions to their personal calendar, effectively creating a wish list of attendance. As you get closer to the event, attendees can use the tool to refine the list and make a solid plan for session attendance. It’s always a good idea to have a ‘plan A’ and a ‘plan B’ in case sessions fill to capacity. Once a session has been attended, this same tool will provide you with an evaluation form for the session, as well as the overall conference evaluation.

To login to Schedule Builder or “Attendee Tools”, use the same Microsoft account used to register for the event.

Is a mobile app available for this event?

While the Convergence website can be accessed by all attendees from any smartphone, we also offer a full-featured event application for Windows devices, Apple iOS, and Android. The mobile event app will include a wide range of features and information, including access to Schedule Builder, a listing of sponsors and exhibitors, venue and area maps, an attendee directory, and a variety of other resources.
