How do I register for Convergence?

Visit the Registration page to review registration information, and to register online for the event.

What does my registration include?

Full conference registration includes access to all keynotes, sessions, meals, Convergence Experience Centre (which includes the Expo Experience, Microsoft Solutions Experience, and Community Experience), and exclusive delegate tools and resources such as Schedule Builder and the mobile app. For specific information on alternative passes, including the Up! (Upgrade) Pass and Convergence Experience Centre Only Pass, please visit the Registration page.

How do I reserve a hotel room?

You may reserve a hotel room during the online registration process, where you will be linked to our hotel booking service upon completion of your registration. Convergence has secured special negotiated hotel rates for the event dates (from 75 Euros to 219 Euros per night including breakfast and VAT). To receive the negotiated room rate, all reservations must be made through this hotel booking site. Hotels cannot book rooms within the group block directly through their reservation offices.

Are spouses and/or kids allowed to attend conference activities?

The event and all related conference activities are for registered delegates only.

What if I have a special need or request?

What should I do if my country requires a visa?

To request a visa letter for Convergence 2014 Europe, you first need to complete your registration for the event. Once you receive your registration confirmation email, download the visa letter questionnaire via the provided link. Upon completion, you may send the letter to the designated email address stated within the questionnaire. Please note that letters cannot be sent until payment for the event has been received in full. Visa letters take several days to process and are not started until your payment is received; therefore, please be sure to register and request your letter early.

Where can I find an overall Convergence agenda?

Visit the agenda page for a high-level agenda with conference times and activities (subject to change).

Where can I learn more about session content?

The Session Catalog will include a listing of Keynote Sessions, General Sessions, Breakout Sessions and Deep Dive Sessions, and allows delegates to search on sessions by a variety of different tags (such as track, level, audience, etc.). Full session details will be posted over the next several months. Schedule Builder will be available in early October, enabling registered delegates to build their own personal session schedule prior to arriving onsite.

Will there be areas at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue where I can easily meet with colleagues?

Yes, there will be lounge and seating areas throughout the venue that will include tables and chairs, WiFi access, and power for your convenience.

What other opportunities are there to network at Convergence?

The Convergence Experience Centre (CEC) acts as the hub of the conference, and includes our Expo Experience, Microsoft Solutions Experience and Community Experience areas. Within this space are multiple opportunities to meet with partners, Microsoft experts, and other delegates. Roundtable Discussions will also be held during lunchtime that allow delegates to network with one another based on like industries and roles.

Is there available space at any nearby hotels to hold side meetings?

There is no side meeting space available at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue. If you do need to book space for side meetings, please contact Julie Rowlands ( Please note that all requestors are responsible for organizing and funding all aspects of their side meeting and will work directly with Julie on applicable payment options.

Where in Barcelona will the event be held?

Convergence 2014 Europe will be held at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue, located at Av. Joan Carles I, 64, 08908 L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona SPAIN (please note: there are two Fira venues in Barcelona – please ensure you arrive at the Gran Via venue).

What transportation options are available to get to Fira Gran Via?

There is no shuttle bus transportation from the hotels to the venue. The nearest Metro stop is Plaza Europa and there will be a shuttle bus that runs from the stop to the North Entrance of Hall 8.0 (the main event entrance). Alternatively, the venue is a short (15 minute) walk from the Metro Station. All other transportation (including airport transportation) will be the responsibility of each attendee.

Is there recommended dress attire while attending Convergence?

Business casual is appropriate attire while attending sessions at Convergence. Please note that it can be cool within the meeting rooms at the Fira Gran Via venue; please plan to bring a sweater or jacket for your personal comfort level.

The weather in Barcelona during this timeframe is typically around 18 degrees (Celsius) for a high and a low of 10 degrees (Celsius).

Will meals be provided at Convergence?

A conference lunch which will be served each day in the Meal Hall. Beverages and snacks will also be provided during conference days. Food and beverage will also be available during evening events. (Note that for hotels booked within the Convergence block, breakfast is provided as part of the negotiated rate.)

Will cloakrooms and luggage check be available?

Although Convergence recommends leaving personal belongings at your hotel, Convergence will offer limited cloakroom and luggage check at the Fira Gran Via during the event within posted conference hours. Convergence luggage check is free to attendees. Hours will be posted prior to the event.

Will there be a location where I can meditate or pray?

Yes. Convergence will be setting aside a room dedicated for this purpose, and will be available during conference hours.

Will there be a first aid stations?

For routine medical assistance, there will be a first aid station available. This station will be open during conference hours only.

Can I use my mobile phone or camera?

Yes, but we do ask that you be considerate of other delegates. Please turn your cell phone to the silent mode while you are in sessions and do not use cell phones in the session rooms. Out of respect for our presenters, we ask that no flash photography, video and/or audio recorders, or laser pointers be used during any session.

Will there be Wi-Fi available?

Yes, wireless internet access will be available throughout most areas of Convergence. Please consult the conference guide or event mobile app for specific access information and other technical tips.

Is smoking permitted in the facilities?

Smoking is not allowed at the Fira Gran Via venue. Please utilize designated smoking areas outside the facilities.

Are there evening events happening at Convergence?

The Convergence Experience Reception takes place on Tuesday, 4 November from 18:00-20:00. Will there be an event mobile app available?

Yes, we will be offering a full-featured event application for Windows devices, Apple iOS, and Android. The mobile event app will include a wide range of features and information, including access to Schedule Builder, a listing of sponsors & exhibitors, venue & area maps, a delegate directory, and a variety of other resources. The mobile app will be available in mid-late October, prior to the event.
