Permissions required to administer activity feeds

To obtain a list of entities that you can enable for activity feeds, in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application, navigate to Settings, and then to Activity Feeds Configuration. The Post Configurations grid will contain a list of entities configurable for activity feeds. You must have system administrator privileges to access this list. These entities are added for you automatically when you view the Post Configurations grid as an administrator.

If you are setting up activity feeds for a Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premises) enlistment, you’ll need to manually add these entities and publish the Activity Feeds solution.

Understanding activity feeds entities

Configuring these entities will allow you to change the different features your users will adopt.

If you decide to uninstall Activity Feeds, you must delete the entries in the entity configuration, republish, and then delete the solution.

When users want to be able to sort the feeds on their wall based on various entities they're connected to, you'll need to make sure those views are enabled in the Post Configuration area of Activity Feeds Settings.

The foltering functionality is available only to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online users who have installed the most recent Product Updates. More information: Installing Product Updates.

Add a filter view

  1. In the Navigation Pane, click Settings.

  2. Under System, click Post Configurations and select the entity you want.

  3. On the Filters tab, in the Filters grid, select the entity you want, and then select Show or Hide in the ribbon above.

If you install activity feeds and intend to make further customizations to your system, deactivate activity feeds for all entities before you create, develop and export the solution. After the solution is exported, you may reactivate.
