Introduction to Yammer

Yammer integration offers social networking to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online users. Yammer integration offers functionality similar to the Activity Feeds solution. Read more about Activity Feeds. With Yammer, you can follow colleagues and records, collaborate, share files, and stay in touch. Most people these days are familiar with social networking online—Yammer brings that functionality to the business world. You’ll need a Yammer Enterprise subscription to use it. Yammer integration is available only to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online users. It’s available as an optional feature after you install product updates. Installing Product Updates. Yammer will replace the Activity Feeds solution in your Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online organization, though your Activity Feeds components will remain in the same state they were before installing Yammer. Yammer simply replaces Activity Feeds in the users’ workspace.

Installing Yammer is permanent. After you install Yammer, to look up old Activity Feeds data, you’ll need to perform searches in Advanced Find, rather than seeing old data automatically appear in your conversation streams. To do this, search using Advanced Find, setting Look For to Posts and then searching for the record you want.

Functionality overview

Using Yammer offers you these principal benefits:

  • Direct integration into work area. Yammer appears right in the work space for sales people and service reps. As they work on sales and cases, the progress appears right on the form, complete with time stamps and conversations about the activity.

  • Real-time collaboration. You can set Yammer to allow people to post about items of interest, and you can also set it to post automatically when records are added or updated to the system. If you create a new lead, convert it to an opportunity, close it, and so on, Yammer displays this news right away.

  • Control over conversations and system posts. You control who can post, and you control which types of records create posts automatically.
