Manually remove Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 laptop client for Outlook

In some cases, Setup cannot completely remove Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Microsoft Office Outlook. If Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook is not completely removed, Setup will be unable to reinstall Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook if a different user needs to run it on the same computer. Setup cannot install Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook because more than one installation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook on the same computer is not supported.

When a user tries to install Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook on a computer where a previous installation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook has not been completely removed, the following error message is displayed:

An incompatible version of the Microsoft CRM desktop client for Outlook or the Microsoft CRM laptop client for Outlook is already installed on this computer.

By manually removing Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook, you can complete a new install of Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Microsoft Office Outlook.

Manually remove Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook

To manually remove Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook, you must be logged on as a member of the local administrators group to the computer where it is installed.

Warning By completing these steps, you will remove all Microsoft Dynamics CRM data for the user on the computer where the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook is installed. We recommend that you back up the computer before you complete these steps.

1.

Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

2.

In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (CRM), click Remove, and then follow the instructions that are on the screen.

3.

After Setup completes, close Add or Remove Programs.

4.

In Microsoft Windows Explorer, delete the MSSQL$CRM folder. To start Windows Explorer, click Start, click Run, type explorer, and then click OK.

By default, the MSSQL$CRM folder is in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server

Remove the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook data file:

a

Click Start, click Control Panel, (if Control Panel is set to Category View, click Switch to Classic View), and then double-click Mail.

b

In the Mail Setup window, click Data Files.

c

In the Outlook Data Files window, click Microsoft CRM, and then click Remove.

d

In the Microsoft Office Outlook dialog box, click Yes, and then click OK.

e

Click Close two times, and then close Control Panel.

6.

Delete the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Help catalog:

a

Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

b

In the Computer Management window, expand Services and Applications, right-click Indexing Service, and then click Stop.

c

Expand Indexing Service, right-click Microsoft CRM Help, and then click Delete.

d

Right-click Indexing Service, and then click Start.

e

Close the Computer Management MMC snap-in.

7.

Remove the Microsoft Dynamics CRM address book:

a

Start Outlook.

b

On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts, click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click Next.

c

Click Microsoft CRM Address Book, click Remove, click Yes, and then click Finish.

8.

If the Microsoft.CRM.Application.Hoster.exe process is running, you must stop it:

a

Click Start, click Run, type taskmgr, and then click OK.

b

In the Windows Task Manager window, click the Processes tab, right-click Microsoft.Crm.Application.Hoster.exe, and then click End Process.

9.

Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. For more information, click the following link to view the Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

10.

Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:

a

Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Install Clean Up.

b

Click Microsoft CRM laptop client for Microsoft Office Outlook, and then click Remove.

11.

Modify the registry entries:

Click Start, click Run, type regedt32, and then click OK.

b

In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server

c

Expand Microsoft SQL Server, right-click CRM, and then click Delete.

d

In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey:
HKEY_ CURRENT_ USER \Software\Microsoft

e

Expand Microsoft, right-click MSCRMClient, and then click Delete.

f

In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData

g

On the Edit menu, click Find, and then in the Look for box enter the following GUID:
47B57B26C03275F45B5DD409962C5229

h

Under Look at make sure that only Keys is selected, and then click Find Next.

i

Right-click 47B57B26C03275F45B5DD409962C5229, click Delete, and then click Yes.

j

Close Registry Editor.

12.

Delete the Microsoft CRM folder. To do this, start Windows Explorer, and then delete the folder that is named Microsoft CRM. To start Windows Explorer, click Start, click Run, type explorer, and then click OK.

By default, the Microsoft CRM folder is in the following location:
C:\Program Files\

Note If the Microsoft CRM folder cannot be deleted, restart the computer, and then delete the folder.

13.

Delete the MSCRM.pst file:

a

Click Start, click Run, type c:\documents and settings, and then click OK.

b

Open the folder for the user who uses the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook.

c

On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.

d

In the Advanced settings list, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

e

Click Application Data, right-click MSCRM.pst, and then click Delete.

14.

Restart the computer if you want to reinstall Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook.
