Q: I understand you cannot discuss Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009. Are there any public details about POS 2009?
A: Thanks for your question. Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009 is expected to release to manufacturing in March 2009. The product is currently in a private Beta. This release has many of the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics RMS Store Operations as well as some features that are not in Store Operations today. In addition, we plan to ship a migration tool that will allow Store Operations users to migrate to POS 2009. At this time, this is the only publicly available information about this release.
Q: Can RMS do discounts? If the customer purchases $100 or more it automatically discounts 20%?
A: There is not a way within the application to have it automatically add an additional discount if the total purchase amount exceeds a certain dollar amount. However, you could take a look at the Solution Finder to see if there is a 3rd party product that does this. Q: When using Windows driver for the receipt printer which is connected to the cash drawer, the cash drawer opens when doing a reprint. Is there a way to eliminate this issue? Is there a workaround or do we need to use OPOS?
A: Unfortunately there is not a way to eliminate this issue. Please use the OPOS drivers as the Windows drivers will always detect a header/footer and pop the cash drawer.
Q: Also, we were having problems in adjusting the receipt format such as adding a logo on the receipt header using OPOS.
A: I am not sure what issues you are having with adding a logo to the receipt; but if you are on a support plan you may want to take a look at Knowledge Base article 835959 on CustomerSource: How to add a store logo to a receipt in Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System Store Operations (login required). Some of the notes in the article are that the total file size must be no larger than 20 kilobytes (KB) and only monochrome bitmap file types will be printed on the receipt.
