The whole kit and caboodle
Spice up holiday sales with attractive gift bundles

Giftbox
In these tough times, it might take a little creativity to inspire customers to make purchases. One idea is to bundle related items together to be sold as a group. You can advertise special pricing, supply enticing packaging, or simply offer customers the convenience of not having to put things together on their own.

The kit and assembly item types in Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) can help. With a variety of options for managing stock levels, pricing, and costs, these item types give you the flexibility you need to offer deals that your customers will respond to.

A kit item is used for selling a group of items together as a single item. The items can be packaged together, you can track how many kits are sold, and substitutions are not allowed. Examples include gift baskets, clothing sets, and video-game packs. An assembly item is used for groups of items that are sold at the same time but listed individually in the transaction. The items might not be packaged together and are tracked individually, and you can allow substitutions if you want. Examples include computer bundles, bedroom sets, and separates sold as sets.

Did you know?
Any special packaging that you provide, such as baskets or gift boxes, can be included as a component of a kit or assembly. Simply set up a standard item, set the price to whatever fee you charge for the packaging, and then include the item in your kits or assemblies. You can also have cashiers ring up a packaging item whenever a box or bag is given out individually.
