Microsoft Higher Education Learning Program

Microsoft is pleased to announce the Higher Education Learning Program (HELP), a special no-cost online learning opportunity for universities and colleges. HELP is a program offering e-learning courses to institution-sanctioned student organizations that provide technology assistance to faculty and students. The program began in January 2008 and will end on July 1, 2009.

Technical support is often delivered by teaching assistants, resident advisors, or an IT help desk staffed by students. This curriculum is aimed at students in these roles who can provide support for Microsoft Office products and Windows operating systems.

The program is available in English, although future releases may include additional languages.

Who should apply

The Microsoft Higher Education Learning Program is designed for universities and colleges that do not offer courses on Microsoft applications or operating systems but do have student-run organizations that provide technical support for staff and students.

The online HELP curriculum is a subset of the e-learning courses developed by Microsoft IT Academy, which is a subscription-based program available to universities, colleges, and high schools. Microsoft IT Academy is aimed at students working toward Microsoft certifications or higher-level IT careers.

Microsoft IT Academy benefits include faculty training, classroom and online curriculums, courseware, certification exam discounts, textbooks, and access to Microsoft professional resources such as MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDN AA) and TechNet.

The following table outlines the features of Microsoft HELP and Microsoft IT Academy. Use the table to help you assess which program suits your needs.
