​During the past few decades, the demand for increasingly sophisticated information technology in society and the workplace has placed a growing premium on technology-intensive skills. As most occupations begin to fall into the category of information worker, how we educate those workers becomes a key challenge in the 21st century. We believe that, given current demands on national economies, leveraging the existing workforce to the fullest is a goal that should be pursued. Economies must foster increased labor productivity by allocating workers to higher-value activities. To do this, national economies need a more adaptable, skilled, and technology-literate workforce.
