Microsoft Qualified Educational User academic discount eligibility
If your organization meets our criteria for “Qualified Educational Users,” it is eligible to acquire Microsoft Academic Edition (AE) products and a possible academic discount or education pricing through the volume license programs indicated.
 
 
Education institutions
An accredited institution organized and operated exclusively for the purpose of teaching its enrolled students.
Institution or user Requirements Qualifies for
A public or private K-12 vocational school, correspondence school, junior college, college, university, or scientific or technical school Institutionally accredited by an accrediting agency nationally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
Public K-12 institution Recognized or approved by the Department of Education of the state in which it is located.
A preschool An early childhood program incorporated for the purpose of providing educational services to children between two and five years of age,  which serves minimum of 10 such children, and which has been in operation for at least one year.

Full- and part-time teachers, faculty, and staff
Students
Public libraries
Public museums
Home-school programs
 
Examples of entities not eligible for academic pricing:
  • Non-accredited schools
  • Training centers
  • Non-United States residents or educational facilities
  • Churches
  • Hospitals, healthcare systems, and research laboratories that do not meet the qualifications above
  • Non-profit/charitable organizations that do not meet the qualifications above
