Think about... Using Microsoft Excel to reference live data from a Web site
How does this look? The Internet offers a wide variety of data sources, including data that gets updated on a daily basis. Excel enables you to link to Web data so that updated data appears on your Excel spreadsheet each time you open it. Here is how to use this Excel feature:
1.
Open Microsoft Internet Explorer and find a Web site that has data that correlates to your curriculum. The data will need to be formatted in a table.
2.
In an Excel worksheet, click the Data menu, click Import External Data, and then click New Web Query. The Web Query window opens to your Internet Explorer home page.
3.
Use the Address box to scroll down to the Web page you need, or copy and paste the URL into the Address box.
4.
In the Query window, a yellow arrow will appear next to tables that can be used.
5.
Select the arrow next to the data that you want to use, and then click the Import button at the bottom of the Web Query window.
6.
The next window will ask you where to place the data. Select Existing worksheet or New worksheet. Click OK.
7.
To refresh the data, you must click a cell within the imported data and then go to the Data menu and select Refresh.
