Who is eligible?

The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance is for you if…

The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance is open to educational institutions that want to use Microsoft Dynamics products in their curriculum or academic research in disciplines such as accounting information systems, managerial accounting, professional selling, marketing, and operations management. If you represent such an institution in the Americas, you’re eligible to apply.

The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance is not for you if…

The no-cost software licenses issued through the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance are not for evaluation purposes or for personal, family, or business use. They are not available for Microsoft Dynamic–specific training on a for-profit basis, and they are not available for educational institutions that want to use them to manage their own operations.

Note: If your institution is outside of the Americas but you are interested in learning more about the program, please let us know by contacting dynaa@microsoft.com.

How to apply

To apply for the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance, send us a message at dynaa@microsoft.com. What should you include in your message? It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…

1.

Contact information. Send us the name and address of your educational institution. Also give us the name, address, phone, fax, and e-mail address for the primary contact for this account. The contact information will be used to send a quarterly electronic newsletter that contains important information about the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance. You’ll be able to add names to the account after it’s established.

2.

Products you’d like to receive. View a list of available products now. Please let us know how many people (faculty and students) will use each product. For Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the number of users is the number of named users accessing the system. For all other products, the number of users is the number of people accessing the software simultaneously.

3.

Details about how the software will be used. Please let us know how each product will be used at your institution, including whether it will be used for research or curriculum. If used for curriculum, let us know what course the software will be used for and submit a curriculum implementation plan as an attachment to your e-mail message.

Available products

Microsoft Dynamics products give you the tools to teach your students about the full range of business processes and issues, including financial management and business analytics, manufacturing and supply chain management, retail management, and customer relationship management. The Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance gives you access to integrated business applications that can add an important new dimension to your teaching or research.

Enterprise resource planning applications

Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance offers four integrated business applications. Please select the one that fits your needs. Support professionals do not recommend running multiple business applications in the same environment.

Microsoft Dynamics GP
Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions – Great Plains) is a midsize integrated business application with rich out-of-the-box functionality. This is the financial management solution most commonly used by Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance members in North America.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Microsoft Dynamics NAV (now part of Microsoft Dynamics) is a midsize integrated business application customized for unique business processes. In academia, this application would be used in a curriculum focused on manufacturing, distribution, and service industries.

Microsoft Dynamics SL
Microsoft Dynamics SL (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions – Solomon) is most often integrated into the project accounting curriculum of institutions in the United States and Latin America.

Microsoft Dynamics AX
Microsoft Dynamics AX (now part of Microsoft Dynamics) is used to illustrate the management of advanced manufacturing needs for multinational organizations. Integrating this application into an academic curriculum is a complex process that requires the involvement of a Microsoft Dynamics partner organization.

Manufacturing and more
In addition, you may select from these Microsoft Dynamics products:

Microsoft Dynamics for manufacturing add-ins for financial management applications
If you are primarily interested in Microsoft manufacturing products, determine the appropriate manufacturing product and then select the corresponding financial management solution. A financial management solution is required to support each of these manufacturing products.

Microsoft Dynamics GP for manufacturing

Microsoft Dynamics NAV for manufacturing

Microsoft Dynamics AX for manufacturing

Microsoft Retail Management System
Microsoft Retail Management System is an easy-to-use, affordable way to automate a single- or multiple-store business. Microsoft Retail Management System can be used in a standalone environment.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Dynamics CRM (formerly Microsoft CRM) can help shorten sales cycles and improve customer loyalty. This application can be used in a standalone environment or with Microsoft Dynamics GP. Technical support through the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance is not currently available for this application.

Note: If you are requesting Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Microsoft Dynamics AX the corresponding customer relationship management (CRM) solution is specific to each of those products.
