How-to article

Do you want to get more parents and other family members to attend your science fair? Do you want to make your science fair more interactive and interesting for your students?

Try an online science fair. Students conduct experiments and then present them on the Web; the audience browses the exhibits online, and judges award prizes.

Objective

Create an online science fair using Microsoft Office Publisher. Here's how:

Create an online science fair.

1.

Have your students complete a simple science fair application so you know the topic and question that they plan to investigate. After their applications are approved, students can begin working on their projects. Schedule regular meetings with students to help keep them on track. Students will need to include photographs with the documentation of their projects to display on the Web.

2.

Post students' projects on the Web site.

3.

After the projects have been posted, have the judges view them online, and display awards on the Web site and in class.

4.

The Web site archive of students' projects can be used as a resource for other students in the school and next year's class.
