Learning Village
Give your educators access to the best practices, instructional
strategies, lesson plans, and resources from around your school district—all from
a centralized SharePoint Web portal. The Learning Village solution makes it easy
for educators to measure student achievement, tap into a wealth of curricula, and
collaborate with other educators in their district.
Learning Village can be fully-customized for your district to align resources and
curriculum with district, state, or national standards. And teachers can find everything
they need in one in place. Content from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and other publishers
can be fully-integrated into the portal, and you can put all of your district's
critical applications—including e-mail, reporting tools, and grade books—in one
central place with personalized, role-based views.
Learning Village is built on the Microsoft platform, including Microsoft .NET Framework
and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Internet Sites. This platform allows
you to start small and grow to large volumes of users while integrating with other
applications.
Solving your education challenges
The Learning Village solution can help solve some of the key challenges your educators
face in trying to ensure the success of each student. The solutions can help solve
issues including:
- Insufficient curriculum and instructional planning time
- Requirements to realign curriculum to standards
- Diverse student populations
- Increased focus on student performance and reporting
- Lack of parental involvement
- Disparate content sources
- Outdated instructional materials
Key Benefits
Learning Village helps you create, organize, and deliver instructional resources
across your learning community. Use it to:
- Manage curriculum. Connect educators to lesson plans and
up-to-date instructional resources that drive consistent and measurable student
achievement. Use Learning Village to align your lesson plans, content, and assessment
to district, state, or national standards.
- Improve collaboration. Easily share learning experiences,
best practices, and student performance information across audiences — including
teachers, administrators, students, and parents — using the role-based, single sign-on
capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint technology.
- Individualize instruction. Analyze student performance
data and use it to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of individual
students.
- Make better decisions. Facilitate better-informed instructional
decisions by presenting education-critical information in one central location.
- Maximize the return on your technology investments. Build
on a standards-based Microsoft platform that can enhance security, grow with your
needs, and utilize your existing infrastructure and IT skill sets.
- Give educators what they need most—time. Over and over
your teachers say that what they need more than anything to deliver effective, individualized
instruction is the time to plan instruction. By centralizing resources, Learning
Village helps teachers spend their time focusing on adapting curriculum to their
learners' needs, instead of tracking down lesson plans and content.
