Description:
The Slide Sorter in PowerPoint makes it easy to manage your slides and slide show. Use the Slide Sorter to reorder the slides, to delete a slide, to work with notes, to set up transitions for a slide show, and to rehearse timings for a slide show.
How To:
1. | Start Microsoft PowerPoint 2002, and either create a new presentation or open one that you already created. |
2. | Switch to the Slide Sorter view by selecting Slide Sorter from the View menu. |
3. | Use the Zoom button to change the zoom size so that you can see at least three slides across the window. Zoom to a larger size if you would rather be able to read each slide. |
4. | If you want to re-order the presentation, click slides and drag them to another position. |
5. | To delete a slide, click it and then press the DELETE key. To select more than one slide, press CTRL while clicking. Tip: Remember that you can undo your changes by selecting Undo on the Edit menu. |
6. | If you need to add or change any notes for your slides, click the Notes button while in Slide Sorter view. A window appears for the selected slide, allowing you to add or change the notes for the slide. |
7. | Apply a slide transition to your presentation so that the slide show will look more attractive to the audience. To do this, first click the Transition button while in Slide Sorter view. | • | Select the slide or slides in which you would like to add a transition. | | • | Select a transition from the Slide Transition task pane, such as Blinds Horizontal. Make sure AutoPreview is selected so that you can see the effect right away on your slide(s) in Slide Sorter view. | | • | Next, select a speed (Slow, Medium, or Fast) for the transition. If you like, choose a sound effect for the slide(s). | | • | The Advance slide options enable you to control when each slide will advance to the next one. You can either advance through the slide show manually (by selecting On mouse click) or automatically after a set amount of time, such as five seconds. | | • | Make any additional adjustments to your slide show by first clicking any slide in the Slide Sorter. Click the Play button at the bottom of the task pane, or click the star beneath a slide to see and hear the transitions. | | • | When you want to see the whole slide show from the beginning, just click the first slide, and then click the Slide Show button in the task pane. |
|
8. | Finally, click the Rehearse Timings button on the Slide Sorter toolbar (it looks like a stop watch) so that you can practice presenting your slide show and keep track of how much time it takes. PowerPoint will keep track of the timing for you, so just pretend you are giving your presentation to a group of people, and let the program keep track of the time sequence for you. |
