How much does registration cost?
There is no charge to attend a Microsoft Institute.
Can I take a look at the presentations before the programs?
All prior PowerPoint presentation slides are posted in the resource tab of this Web site. You may download and print
these slides. While these will give you a sense of the presentations, the exact
decks will vary at each site and will be made available.
What materials should I review before going?
The resources that will be discussed throughout the event and some background information
are posted in the
resources section.

What materials can I use after going?
- Quarterly, you will receive the Insight Newsletter, which will include Microsoft Education happenings, new resources, recommended readings, technology tips and tricks, and other information.
- Many of the tools and resources are available online free of charge. You will be introduced to them during the Microsoft Institute.
- The
Innovative Teachers Network (ITN) is an online, worldwide education portal sponsored
by Microsoft.
Through the ITN, educators can access lesson plans, how-to articles, inquiry-based
projects, and step-by-step implementation instructions to help transform their classroom
into a technology-rich environment.
For the Microsoft Institute participants, ITN will host:
1. Facilitated post-briefing discussions.
2. Connections between educators and Partners in Learning program managers.
3. Discussions between educators throughout the United States and the world.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?
What time does the Microsoft Institute start? End?
The typical day will start with a light breakfast at 9 a.m. and conclude by 5 p.m.
The agenda will be sent to registered attendees a few weeks in advance of the start
and will be posted in the resource tab of this site.
What is the duration of the Microsoft Institute?
The experience runs for three days and is typically, but not always, scheduled from
Tuesday through Thursday.
Do I have to attend all three days of the event?
The Microsoft Institute is designed as a three-day event. We encourage all guests
to attend the full three day series as each day builds on the knowledge gained the
previous day. If seats are available two weeks prior to the start of an event, we
will accept participants for 1 or 2 days. Please contact
msinstit@microsoft.com to explore this option.
Will Microsoft cover travel costs for this event?
Attendees are expected cover their travel and accommodations for this event. There
is no registration charge.
Where can I stay if I am traveling from out of town?
A few weeks before the event start date, Microsoft will e-mail a list of nearby
hotels. There is also a downloadable list of hotels on the registration tab of this
site.
Will Microsoft provide transportation to the event?
No. Guests are responsible for transportation to and from the institute. If you
are staying in a hotel, be sure to inquire whether they have a complimentary shuttle
to and from the airport or the Microsoft offices.
Do I need to check in to the event?
Participants will check in the morning of the first day The check-in process will
vary at each site but typically there will be a receptionist who will provide you
with a name badge. Please remember to bring your name badge with you each day you
are attending as this also serves as a security pass.
Will there be Internet access at the event?
Internet access will vary from site to site. Most of the Microsoft offices will
have Internet access onsite and will provide each guest with an access code. We
recommend that participants bring laptops as this will enhance participation in
some sessions.
Will Microsoft provide meals at the event?
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees each day. Dinner will
not be provided. If you are a public sector employee you must
submit a letter (.doc, 45 KB) from your district ethics
officer to receive meals during the event. This letter must say that you are allowed
to consume the meals that will be provided during the event and the letter must
be signed by your ethics officer. This should be sent on district letterhead either
in e-mail to

Will there be breaks in the day?
We have scheduled two 15-minute breaks throughout the day for participants to check
e-mail, make personal calls, etc. An agenda will be sent two weeks prior to the
event with the break times each day.
What should I wear to the event?
Meeting attire is business casual.
