E-Quilts
Updated: April 6, 2004
After reading literature with a story quilt theme, students get to write a story about an event in their lives and create their own story quilt depicting that event. With the teacher’s assistance, the squares of their story quilt are photographed and imported into Microsoft® PowerPoint to create an “e-quilt.” The children then record their stories and add them as narration to the slide show.
“The students apply what they have learned about writing a good story, using expression as they read, identifying congruent shapes, and recognizing a pattern in order to be successful and create an impressive final product.”
Amy Goldberg, University of Illinois
