Reel Reading
Updated: April 6, 2004
Working in teams, students develop an advertising campaign for a novel. Using PowerPoint or video-editing software, they create a movie "trailer" that covers intriguing elements of the plot and makes liberal and appropriate use of advertising and film techniques. Students also design a poster using a Publisher template to advertise the book.
“... I hoped that students would learn that the communication skills and messages we'd been analyzing all semester had real application.”
Jennifer Bradbury, Burlington-Edison High School
