
Erich Andersen

Erich Andersen is the vice president and associate general counsel of Microsoft’s law and corporate affairs department, overseeing all legal and government affairs matters in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for the company. Splitting his time between Brussels, Belgium, and Microsoft EMEA headquarters in Paris, Andersen oversees all corporate legal functions, competition and other regulatory issues, and public policy engagement for Microsoft in the region.
A Microsoft veteran, Andersen joined Microsoft in 1995, and has worked very closely with the Microsoft product groups on legal, regulatory, technical and policy issues. During his career at Microsoft, Andersen has worked and travelled extensively in Europe and Asia.
Before joining Microsoft, Andersen served as a law clerk for a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the US (one level below the Supreme Court). He began his law practice in Seattle.
Andersen holds a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he served as chief managing editor of the law review.
