IT Academy for Teacher training

Providing ICT skills training and curriculum to Teachers & Students in Schools around the World

As well as the latest technology, schools need the training and skills to take advantage of the latest computers, operating systems and applications. But too often they lack the resources to take advantage of the necessary training programmes. In response, Microsoft is making a substantial commitment over the next fives years to invest in technology skills training for teachers and students in schools worldwide.

Partners in Learning Grants
Funding will support the establishment of local Microsoft IT Academy for Teacher Training entities through joint partnerships with local community organisations, education institutions and training providers.

Each of these Academies will offer school leadership training, computer skills development and training for teachers on how to make technology an effective and integrated part of the learning process. Above all, it aims to give teachers the confidence to develop an innovative approach to the use of computers in the classroom, and tailor technology to the needs of every pupil.

The Microsoft IT Academy for Teacher Training Program aims to:

Skill teachers in the innovative use of ICT across the curriculum

Skill students in ICT fundamentals, desktop and developer applications and network administration

Inspire school leaders with the power of ICT for teaching and learning and for whole school improvement

Through the Partners in Learning Grants programme Microsoft is working closely with government and education leaders in individual countries to help develop strategies that meet the requirements of local schools.

For example, in some areas there may be a greater emphasis on teacher professional development, while in others, issues may surround ICT integration.
