Microsoft participates in a number of groups that work to directly influence policy development at EU level to ensure appropriate framing of policy recommendations to EU Member States. Particularly through its membership of the European eSkills Forum, the eSCC will seek to advise the European Commission in its ongoing consultations relating to formal recognition and public-private ICT training partnerships.
eSkills Certification Consortium
A multi-stakeholder consortium for the public endorsement of Industry and other non-formal eSkills Certifications. The European e-Skills Forum was established in March 2003. Its main goals are to foster an open dialogue between stakeholders, both public and private, and to catalyse actions addressing e-skills challenges.

e Learning Industry Group
A group of 15 companies joined forces in April 2002 to create the “eLearning Industry Group” (eLIG) in Europe - with the support and endorsement of Ms. Reding, the European Commissioner for Education and Culture. The objective of the group is to work in public private partnership with the European Commission, national governments and education institutions to accelerate the deployment of e-learning in Europe.
