Microsoft Bulgaria recognized as "Investor In The Future"

Ministry of Education presents Microsoft Bulgaria with award at National Panorama of Vocational Schools event for education leaders in Bulgaria.

Microsoft Bulgaria was awarded “Investor in the future” by the Ministry of education at a special gala-dinner of the National Panorama of Vocational Schools at a presence of more than 100 education leaders from all over of Bulgaria. The Ministry of Education is giving this award each year to companies with solid investments and contribution to Bulgaria education.

The General Manager of Microsoft Bulgaria, Ognian Kiriakov, was presented the award personally by the Deputy Minister of Education, Kircho Atanassov. This recognition followed the school year 2008-2009 during which Microsoft Bulgaria and the Ministry of Education worked jointly to support and improve the Bulgarian education system in the field of new ICT.

During the school year, in full alignment with the Ministry of Education’s national priorities and based on the signed agreement between both parties, Microsoft Bulgaria focused on three key aspects of its program:

  • Supporting innovative teachers through: training and training materials, providing access to the teacher communities on the Microsoft Innovative Teachers Network, and delivering access to various curricula under Microsoft’s Partners in Learning program.


  • Supporting innovative students through: the Live@Edu free communication services program, support for national competitions, training through IT Academy.


  • Supporting innovative schools based on access to latest Microsoft operating systems and desktop products, based on National Education agreement, participation of schools in the Live@Edu program, the IT Academy, and DreamSpark which provides student with free access to technical software.

Deputy Minister Kircho Atanassov explained why Microsoft was awarded with this special acknowledgement: “Because Microsoft shows how business and education should work together in practice, not just by desire.”
