The vision of the Network of Excellence FIDIS (Future of Identity in the Information Society) is that Europe will develop a deeper understanding of how appropriate identities and identity management can pave the way to a fairer European information society.

- Interoperability of identity and identification concepts
- ID-theft, privacy, and security
- Profiling and forensic implications
Expected results of FIDIS will be: - Integrated approaches to research
- Legal, socio-economic, usability, and application requirements
- Public architecture and specifications
