There are several reasons why a device may be considered out of warranty.

1. Incorrect serial number: Please verify that you have entered the correct serial number (IMEI).

2. Warranty period has expired: Check the Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty for length of warranty coverage. If you have a proof of purchase indicating that your device is within the warranty period, you will be able to submit your device to Microsoft for repair. A copy of the proof of purchase must be included in such repair cases. Please note that there are some exceptions to warranty. For example Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty does not cover liquid or physical damage, which may be found out during repair. In this case you will be contacted by the repair service provider.

3. Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty is typically valid only in the country where you have purchased the device. Check the Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty for warranty coverage and exceptions.
