TechEd is packed with technical learning opportunities in various formats. Here’s a bite sized overview that shows the many different ways you can immerse yourself and connect with Microsoft and industry experts.
Technical Track Sessions
There are 9 technical tracks available at TechEd Australia 2013. Tracks are designed as a navigational tool to assist you in finding the right sessions to meet your needs. There are over 140 technical track sessions at TechEd. Track sessions are large, 75 minute, expert-led presentations.
Track Session Codes
A code has been assigned to each session as a quick reference guide, making it easier for you to schedule your time at TechEd. The first three letters tell you the track that the session belongs to e.g. AZR = Windows Azure Application Development
The first number refers to the technical level of that track, for example 3 = technical level 300 or ‘Advanced’. The middle number refers to the day that session will be held on, Wednesday is 1, Thursday is 2 and Friday is 3.
The final number refers to that session’s time slot on that day, so 1 would be the first session, for example AZR311 is Windows Azure Application Development Track, technical level 300, Wednesday, 1st timeslot of the day.
Level 100 Description: Introductory and overview material. Assumes little or no expertise with topic and covers topic concepts, functions, features, and benefits.
Level 200 Description: Intermediate material. Assumes 100-level knowledge and provides specific details about the topic.
Level 300 Description: Advanced material. Assumes 200-level knowledge, in-depth understanding of features in a real-world environment, and strong coding skills. Provides a detailed technical overview of a subset of product/technology features, covering architecture, performance, migration, deployment, and development.
Level 400 Description: Expert material. Assumes a deep level of technical knowledge and experience and a detailed, thorough understanding of topic. Provides expert-to-expert interaction and coverage of specialized topics.
Technical Learning Centre
Hands On Labs (HOLs): These labs allow you to experience a Microsoft solution by working at your own computer station, at your own pace, with the support of experienced Technical Learning Guides (TLGs). There are HOL topics featured, each one focusing on a specific task or feature of a Microsoft product or technology previously presented in a Breakout Session.
Instructor-Led Labs (ILLs): These are HOLs delivered in a classroom environment, whilst you are seated at your own computer a Microsoft Certified Trainer guides you through the presentation and lab exercises. Each Instructor-Led Lab is a 75-minute session.
Exam Centre: Get certified and be part of the growing Microsoft Certified Professional community. Microsoft Certifications are designed to provide the recognition you need to help you excel in your career and provide employers with validation of your skills. You will be able to book your certification when you register.
Exam Crams: Exam Crams are 90-minute sessions and are taught by leading Industry Experts in their field. They will share their knowledge of the product exams, how to prepare, what to expect and give invaluable tips and tricks when taking an exam. The Exam Cram sessions have been carefully chosen, so you have a range of technologies and certification tracks to choose from.
