Disaster and humanitarian response

In the event of global disasters, Microsoft Corporation will activate its Disaster Response protocol and work with local nonprofits to support affected regions. Past support has included cash and in-kind contributions, such as software to assist in ongoing relief efforts and employee donation portals. The Disaster Response team may extend cloud-based disaster response communications portals running on Windows Azure to governments and nonprofits for communication between agencies and with citizens.

As part of our contribution during times of global disaster or disaster at home, Microsoft Canada works with our disaster response partner, the Canadian Red Cross. Our partnership with Canadian Red Cross has provided millions of dollars in software grants and support and has made it possible for their disaster relief teams to deploy quickly in times of need.
