The phone is a good PHONE but there are no good apps. I cant even get snapchat. Without this, its harder to be social with my friends. Also, after my warranty ran out, it seemed to not work as good as it used to. The volume up button stopped working and the phone got slower. It would even crash sometimes. There isnt even a front camera on this thing. Microsoft, if you could fix these problems, you would have one of the best phones out there.

I have a iPhone 4S and a Galaxy S5 and bought this phone because it was so inexpensive just to try it out. I only paid $29. I have been using it for 3 months now and actually it has become my main phone. I upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and it really made a big difference in how well it performed. I am not worried if it gets damaged or lost because its so inexpensive to replace. I am an appaholic and have 130 apps on the phone. I just wish it had some of the ones I have on my iPhone and Android phone, but for the most part this phone rocks!!!

The Lumia 520 is great for business, school and even personal use. It has a great camera, easy interface, a sleek look that goes with anything and is fairly easy to use. The only downfalls are the limited apps and the battery. Most apps that your looking for that would be free on android, have to be paid for on windows or arent available at all. And the battery life is disappointing. Just to leave on over night I lose 10% from the battery, which is ALOT! Otherwise its pretty efficient (y)

Windows 520 worse phone ever I should have just thrown my money in the trash. You can't even set more than one reminder for appointments, and there are limited options for when it will remind you. Also can't go back after phone call ends to check call duration. I tried to send feedback a it says I sent feedback in the last seven days its been at least several months since I sent feedback. I had a very inexpensive phone that had more a better features I wish I realized these issues sooner I would have returned phone. I will never buy another Windows phone. Can't wait to replace this one. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone its trash worthy only.

I didn't pay a lot of cash for my Nokia Lumia 520. And the only real disadvantage is no forward camera, not really a big deal. And for those who say that they hate it because it doesn't work properly.... Windows phones work properly and fun circles around iPhone and Android phones when used properly,That is let it connect and let Cortona work for you .once I got over not wanting to allow the connection to the web I learned that I didn't use any more data than I would have used other wise it allows for fast downloads and access to your favorite sites. Remember Your PC needs to have access to the web to work properly and the 520 is not any different it's got 8gigs of memory and it will take a 64gig micro SD card which is more than most high end" smart phones'" offer so stop being paranoid about letting it connect and do it's thing it's thing is to work for you

This is possibly the biggest mistake I ever made. Absolutely USELESS phone. Super Slow. Apps barely accessible. Snapchat not allowed. Whatsapp barely works. Poor batter life. The list goes on... I would prefer to still be using my sad old BlackBerry, that thing managed to keep me smiling, whilst this has only resulted in frustration and disappointment. REALLY UNHAPPY WITH THE BUY!

Coming form an iPhone 4s user. Battery life is poor, you won't be able to use navigation for more than an hour and a half with out it dying. Also the processor is so low grade that it kept kicking me off the internet half the time when trying to watch Youtube videos. Also I couldn't even find a standard MicroSD to add more memory, every store had MicroSDX and what not.

Coming from an Android HTC, (which I loved), this phone is much easier to use. The tiles are a great way to check things, does everything I need and is never glitchy - even with only 512mb Ram. Would love to see a premium phone of this size with all the power features and a bigger battery.

I got this phone pretty cheap on a Go plan, have not been disappointed with what I got accounting for how much it cost. The layout is great and easy to customize, and the sync across other windows and Google apps has been a lifesaver, not to mention the Fb contacts which is a lifesaver for me. I use it to manage my schedule and have not been disappointed. It got a lot better after the last software update Summer 2014. No selfie camera which is disappointing and the quality is barely passable as good- so zooming on pics is shady at best. The lack of apps that comes from being a windows customer is disappointing but worth it in my opinion. My major complaint is with the sound system and headphones. They are not durable, quite delicate. The speaker on the phone is impressive however, people comment on the quality and volume. Apps sometimes take quite a while to load, but mostly this goes away when you shut them all down and turn your phone off once in a while. I'm very happy with the screen resolution and the sensitivity of brightness setting when in auto (I read a lot on my phone). I broke one (the headphone jack - not irreparably, but uncomfortable for listening to music) about 9 mo after getting it (which is more a comment on the very brusque way I treat my possessions than on their quality). I replaced it and have had it in good condition for about 5 mo and counting. The battery life starts off great and decreases from about 14 to 9 hours when playing music nonstop. Charging speed is quite good. (Keep in mind I do not have any data though.) Would recommend for a Good phone and low budget. More about practicality for organization than flashy apps and features.

It was good to use and great good looking OS but not too easy to access data in card with initial OS release. the only prob is lack of apps which will be no big prob in the coming days( i think)... the only thing i regret about it is the absence of equalizer and dolby. the battery is draining after cyan update. Hope it won't happen with denim or W10(if i get it for L520)..

  • Great value for money, but lacking features deemed neccesary by modern standards

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

Lumia 520 is my first smartphone ever and I can't say I'm not satisfied with it, on the contrary, I find it easy to use and good enough for everyday tasks. The casing is of high quality and it has survived more than one fall to hard ground (although on one occasion the glass broke, but it wasn't expensive to fix). However, when it comes to certain features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, it simply doesn't meet modern standards. This problem is not specific only to Lumia 520, but to the whole Windows Phone 8/8.1 OS. Certain types of Wi-Fi networks aren't supported so I cant' for example connect to my university's network. Another unsupported feature is static IP which makes me unable to connect to my home network (which is quite specific to setup). Therefore Wi-Fi is practically useless on my phone since I must rely on my data plan most of the time. The phone also freezes and/or crashes occasionally, requiring a battery removal. Speaking of battery, it lasts barely a full day - with the phone hardly being used. From time to time I tend to use my phone extensively and on those days I have to charge it 3+ times. The camera is good, but the lack of a flashlight makes it unusable under low light conditions. The Office aplication is practically useless for document editing, it can only be used as a modest viewer. To sum up, for users without any special requirements or expectations, the phone is good, but newer Lumia models have since come to the market with better performances in the same price range. I would therefore not recommend you to buy Lumia 520, but some model like Lumia 535, if you are zealous for Lumias. For users having higher technical skills and requirements - steer clear not only of this particular model, but of Windows Phone in general.

The touch screen is very good! It was very easy to get around with, cheep, and a great size. I didn't feel like there were any apps that i was missing. I recommend this phone!

  • Thank you Microsoft and Nokia for the Lumina 520!

    Overall Rating

I ordered my phone from Amazon having no clue what a 'Windows' phone would be like. The first couple days of exploring the phone was a jaw dropper. Having used Android phones, the Lumina 520 continues to amaze me with it's capabilities. There is software, usually FREE, for any purpose one could possibly need. As one who lives on a extremely limited budget, I am grateful the Lumia 520 was, for me, affordable.

This is the worst phone I've ever owned. The internet browser is always kicking you off cause the phone gets overloaded. There are no free aps you must purchase everything. It will freeze on me in the middle of phone calls. You must sync it with Facebook. If you have been thinking about switching from an android or iPhone dont. I'm looking forward to switching back and throwing this phone away
