Is it possible to update N97 software version 11.x.021 over-the-air via SW Update (FOTA)?

Nokia N97 running the software version 11.0.021 can be updated over-the-air (FOTA) by using the SW Update application but the software package Install Before Phone Software must be installed first in the N97 v11.0.021 device. This software package modifies the FOTA Default Server Profile in N97 to allow the phone software update. The software package must be installed separately before the phone software can be updated. The phone software installation does not start if the package has not been installed first to the device.

The package Install Before Phone Software is needed only when updating N97 version 11.0.021 (or earlier) over-the-air. With the newer N97 software versions the phone software can be updated directly as in step 5 below.

The following steps need to be taken when updating the N97 phone software from v11.0.021:

  1. Go to Menu > Applications > SW Update.
  2. Unselect Phone software.
  3. Select Install Before Phone Software.
  4. Select Options > Start update.
  5. After the update is successfully completed, select Phone software.
  6. Select Options > Start update.

Note that the availability of the FOTA update packages may vary depending on the device variant. If no FOTA package is available, check if the software update package is available via Nokia Suite.
