Small business leaders and employees need to know what they want from their Windows 8 device before making a purchase, it has been claimed.
Writing for Gizmodo, Luke Hopewell noted that connected devices can be "big ticket items", meaning it is important to make the right decision when buying.
"If it’s beyond your means or not the right device for you, you’ll be stuck in a rut with something you don’t need or can’t afford," he stated.
Mr Hopewell said buyers should look to stay within budget and not allow themselves to be duped by slick-talking tech salesfolk.
He urged people to make a list of the features they cannot live without in their Windows 8 device.
"Make a list of features you know you can’t live without in your laptop. Need an ace processor? Make sure there’s a note of it. Desperate for gaming options? A performance laptop is the one for you," he noted.
Potential customers also need to research their devices, to make sure they understand its capabilities and exactly what they are buying.
Mr Hopewell suggested that review websites offer insight into what it is like living with a Windows 8 device on a day-to-day basis.
