When embracing the cloud, small and medium-sized companies should focus on their core business, it has been claimed.
According to Cloud Tweaks, there are various different types of cloud services - including Software-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Payment-as-a-Service.
The news provider predicted that the number of niche cloud areas will continue to grow over the coming months and years, and the list of acronyms will only grow.
"Once your company embraces the cloud, it can be tempting to delve into each of these services," Cloud Tweaks noted.
"But not all of them will actually fit your business model."
The news provider said small firms should make sure the cloud services they choose augment their business model, not the other way around.
It suggested that companies should seek solutions which offer tangible, practical benefits, which they are likely to obtain.
For instance, Office 365 offers hosted productivity solutions which can be accessed by any employee, on virtually any device, from almost any location.
The software suite has a wide application and can be used to support a multitude of tasks, ensuring that small businesses have the flexibility they need.
