Hosting providers must ensure website uptime

Thursday 24 January 2013

Reliable web hosting is becoming increasingly important for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), particularly as more consumers shop online.

Record breaking ecommerce figures over the festive period highlighted the importance of selling goods and services over the internet.

Figures published by Experian reveal there were 84 million visits to retail websites on Christmas Eve - and 104 million on Christmas Day itself.

These figures were up by 86 per cent and 71 per cent on the previous year as more people headed online in search of a bargain.

In order to take advantage of this rise in online business, SMBs need to ensure they are ready to receive and process orders whenever a customer chooses to do their shopping.

This could be at any point in the day or night throughout the year - in the world of ecommerce there are no opening and closing times.

Businesses need to ensure their websites are in full working order at all times, otherwise they could miss out on sales which end up boosting their rivals' coffers.

This requires them to have a good web hosting package, supported by a dedicated team of technicians and customer support agents.

If there is a technical problem which prevent access to the ecommerce website, this needs resolving immediately - meaning a reputable provider is key.
