How to get started with Microsoft Office 365

So, you've decided to invest in Office 365 and are eager to get started with its exciting range of productivity features. But how do you get up and running? To sign in to Office 365, and take advantage of advanced IT solutions on the move, follow this simple guide.

Download Office 365

Office 365 can be downloaded over the internet, making it available to use on your PC or device in just a few short minutes. There is no longer any need to take a trip to the computer shop to buy off-the-shelf software - everything you need is available online, in the cloud.

Sign in with a Microsoft account

After downloading Office 365 you will be prompted to sign in using a Microsoft account, giving you the opportunity to personalise your copy of the suite. Whenever you are signed in, your name will appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen, regardless of which program you are using.

If you have a personal Office 365 account, your login details will be the same as your Microsoft email. Users who do not have an existing Microsoft account should click on 'sign up', and follow the free registration process.

Switching accounts

If you are working on a shared PC in the office, and colleagues have been using the same machine, it is possible they may be signed in to their own Office 365 account. Should somebody else's name appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen, simply click on the switch account option and then enter your login details when prompted.

Employees may have access to their organisation's account - this can be accessed with the firm's username and password. Individuals can access Office 365 using a personal or company account on the same machine or device.

Using multiple devices

Office 365 can be installed on up to five different devices, meaning users can access productivity tools on a PC, laptop and mobile devices. This gives users maximum flexibility work where and when they choose using the same online tools and solutions. Office 365 remembers where you left off when switching from one computer to another, meaning it is possible to pick up on your tablet where you finished working on your laptop earlier on.
