Social media will remain the focus of online marketing in 2013, according to projections from Genius Monkey, which predicts that Facebook will stay in the top spot when it comes to advertising trends.
Twitter will follow closely behind Mark Zuckerberg's site, however, with the number of users accessing the social media site as a way to get real time news forecast to increase by millions.
YouTube channels are also set to become more and more a part of the daily user experience, according to the experts. In fact, it is predicted that 75 per cent of all channels that spring to life in the next decade will do so on the internet.
Furthermore, it has been reported that 59 per cent of Pinterest users have purchased something they spotted on the site's boards. Retailers are expected to focus a more significant portion of their marketing efforts on Pinterest as a result of this. Big companies and marketers are expected to get more involved in the site.
Rounding off the list in sixth and seventh place are Instagram and Google+, both of which are also expected to play a significant role in marketing in the coming year.
