The unified communications (UC) market has seen incremental growth in the last few years, it has been claimed.
According to Transparency Market Research, an increasing number of businesses have sought to take advantage of integrated communications solutions as the market has gained maturity.
The firm said that while some companies still have concerns over capital expenditure, the high return on investment is expected to overcome this fear and drive continued market growth.
The growing need of sharing information among organisations is driving the UC market globally," Transparency stated.
"Audio conferencing and web conferencing services are driving the UC market due to its ability to closely connect geographically-dispersed enterprises."
The research company said that as enterprises increasingly invest in UC-based solutions, technological vendors are finding new markets for their products.
And this is helping to drive growth in the UK market, which is predicted to be worth $16 billion (£10.5 billion) by 2015.
Microsoft Lync 2013 - which is available to business users as part of Office 365 - is one of the options for companies seeking unified communications functionality.
