Remote workers can boost productivity with Office 365

Office 365 has an important role to play in supporting business productivity in remote locations, it has been claimed.

In a review for Laptop magazine, Michael A Prospero said one of the suite's "neat tricks" is the ability to stream any of its apps to a remote PC running Windows 7 or Windows 8.

"After signing into Office 365 through a Web browser, at the bottom of the page, under 'Office On Demand' are links to the various Office apps," he explained.

"Simply click one app, and after a plug-in automatically installs on the notebook, that app will open with all the options and features available to the full desktop version."

This can potentially help mobile workers access important online solutions, allowing them to optimise performance levels despite being away from the office.

Mr Prospero said that for those who have notebooks with limited space or small SSDs, Office 365 has some "very clever features".

The same applies to those who are working on somebody else's computer, he stated.

He claimed that Office 365 "takes remote access a whole step further".

Office 365 brings together online versions of the best communications and collaboration tools from Microsoft.

Businesses can subscribe to web-enabled tools that let employees access email, documents, contacts, and calendars from virtually anywhere, on almost any device.
