Nokia Asha: Save battery life

Get the most out of your phone while getting the battery life you need. There are steps you can take to save power on your phone.

To save power:

Charge wisely

Always charge the battery fully.

Select only the sounds that you need

Mute unnecessary sounds, such as key press sounds.

Use wired headphones

Use the loudspeaker selectively.

Use the power saving mode

  • You can set your phone to automatically save power when the battery charge level is low. Tap Settings icon Settings > Power saving, and switch Power saving to Automatic.

  • You can choose when you want the power saving mode to be activated. Tap When battery is below.

Lower the backlight brightness

Tap Settings icon Settings, and drag the Brightness slider.

Set the backlight to switch off after a short time

Tap Settings icon Settings > Phone lock, and change the setting for Screen time-out.

Use the Glance screen selectively

To switch the Glance screen off, tap Settings icon Settings, and switch Glance screen off Off icon.

Use the screen double-tap selectively

To switch the screen double-tap off, tap Settings icon Settings, and switch Screen double tap off Off icon.

Use network connections selectively

  • Switch Bluetooth on only when needed.

  • Use a Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet, rather than a mobile data connection.

  • Switch Wi-Fi off when you don’t use it, so your phone doesn’t scan for available wireless networks. Tap Settings icon Settings > Wi-Fi, and switch Wi-Fi off Off icon.

  • To switch off automatic update of a mail account, tap Accounts icon Accounts and an account. Tap Sync schedule, and switch Update Inbox to Manually.

  • If you're listening to music or otherwise using your phone, but don't want to make or receive calls, switch flight mode on. Tap Settings icon Settings, and switch Flight mode on On icon.
