Switching from a Nokia

Moving your contacts, tunes and photos from your old Nokia easier than you think. In fact, Nokia Lumia is the smartphone that makes everything easier – including switching. We’ll show you how – for devices using Symbian and also for Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 7.5 or 7.8.

Back up

Plug in your old phone to your PC or Mac, then just drag and drop the files containing the data you want to save, including your photos, videos and music. Consult your old phone’s advice on the best way to back up your data.

Set up your new Lumia

Simply follow the instructions to swap your SIM card. You’ll need your Microsoft I.D. If you have a Hotmail, Xbox live or an alternative Microsoft account, then use those details. If not, creating one is straightforward and it’s free!

Transfer your contacts

This is easiest to do with Bluetooth. First enable Bluetooth on both your old and new phones, go into the ‘Transfer my Data’ app, connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

Transfer your content from your PC

Take the data you saved and move it over. Plug in your new Lumia then, as prompted, install the Windows Phone app and transfer the data you want from your PC. (If prompt doesn’t happen, you can download software.)
