I have a couple of Lumia's, one gave to my other half, the kids aged 3 and 10 annoyed both me and partner for the phones because had made the mistake of letting them use for the gaming previously, could not in good conscience buy them phones and the surface is way beyond them in price and age range. Came across the Lumia 2520, which at first was a little skeptical to it doing the job but as soon as it arrived, the simplicity of setting it up for me and the kids, have not heard a peep out of them since by the way, it runs windows RT so they cannot go and do anything to it that would make it unusable, it's so easy to use for both them and me. They watch any video they want, play any game on the Microsoft site, anywhere they want, its 4G so no lagging, speedy USB 3, wireless so no tripping over wires at home, its very tough for something so light, yes OK its not a surface but to be honest that's for adults only, The 2520 comes pre installed with office 2013, so!, you are up and running out of the box for both your work or the kids homework, it has 32Gb memory + 32 via microSD, which with your one drive is impossible to fill. The only problem seems to be at the moment whether it will be updated along with it's little big brother the 1520 to Windows 10? but even if it does not, your not missing out in reality as the apps will be virtually the same apart from the ones packed in with win 10 All in all It's a real winner and a definite family must have, the battery last for days, even with film watching you get hours and hours between a charge, do your self a favour and get one before everyone else gets on the band wagon

My first tablet device and I wasn't disappointed by Nokia or Windows (albeit 8.1 RT). Great performance and apps for everything, has now pretty much put my laptop into retirement. Make sure to add the additional MicroSD card and change all the user directory locations to it to keep that internal storage free!!

  • Excellent business tablet and great for streaming movies to TV

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

The Nokia 2520 when combined with the keyboard is a fantastic business tool. Battery life is excellent, touch typing on the external keyboard is no problem. The keyboard adds additional battery life, and has 2 full sized USB ports. Out of the box Microsoft office works seamlessly now that a glitch in Outlook has been fixed. The tablet remote desktops to a windows small business server via the full version of IE without any issues. At home the micro HDMI port allows us to stream movies to our older TV in 1080, iPad can't do that. Would like to see recharge via USB port, but other than that current recharging is very quick. Great tablet to use every day, the Apps are limited but our Nokia 2520 used predominantly for business and streaming movies, so not a big problem.

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I have only recently got this tablet and am very happy. The display on it is so sharp and bold it really blows its rivals out the water. I already have a Lumia 1020 so had no issues with using it, but if someone was new to windows 8 I don't think they would have a problem setting it up. I also cannot be live how fast it responds everything loads up fast and with ease. Since I got it I am on it daily and am writing this review with it would recommend to anyone.

  • Excellent piece of equipment

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I bought Lumia 2520 from UK, since it is not available here in Sri Lanka. I felt it is an excellent piece of equipment, since I easily replaced my day-to-day computing from this machine. The LTE connectivity is unmatchable when compared to the other windows tablets. The key board is bulky, but provides an additional battery power for one day. Since the lumia 2520 runs on windows RT OS, the user will not access to all windows 8.1 features, but it's enough for my daily work. The battery life is excellent, fat charging. Further, it provides other features such as here map and drive for easy navigation. In conclusion, it meets the value for money concept. However, there is no sign of upgrading RT OS to windows 10. Hence, the buyer should be cautious.

I purchased this tablet when I saw the price and feature set and I can say I am very happy with it for what I need it for. It has Wi-Fi and 4G SIM slot so I can't complain about internet connectivity at all. Its performance is more than enough for its designed usage. Its not meant to replace a laptop but it does the job of a tablet as its portable with an almost instant logon and it has Windows 8 and Office 2013 as standard so all I can say is WOW on the overall package! Love it!

For starters this is my first windows tablet, the draw backs are there are not enough print drives available for 8.1RT and it could use a second USB port like 2.0 and the keyboard takes up almost 3/4 of the screen when visible. That being said, it work like a charm, charges quickly and the picture and sound are excellent. who needs app's when you have the website shortcut on your desktop. This was the best 500.00 dollars I ever spent. Plus it has 4G and you can have multiple users accounts, I used the recovery feature and everything returned as if I just restarted it. My life would be harder without it. I love this tablet.

I use the Lumia 2520 for my work as well as pleasure, and I just cannot fault it. It links perfectly with my Nokia phone and provides great 4G internet access when I am out and about. If I am with a client all day, then I use my laptop, if I am moving about during the day from one client to another or at seminars the Nokia Lumia 2520 is a perfect work tool. The mobile phones are too small if you are wanting to work on documents on the go or access websites, especially if I have to update my own website. I have been waiting for years for a tablet like this to come along, the screen is just the right size, the keyboard is brilliant, and having the USB ports gives me everything I need. The tablet networks perfectly with my WiFi router at home, although when I am working all day at home I use my PC. I could not believe the clarity of Skype on 4G with EE, when I was in the middle of nowhere in mountainous countryside. The only thing I miss with the 2520 is not having telecomms facilities over the 4G network, i.e. being able to access cell sites for voice comms. Still maybe one day. All this at a ridiculously cheap price, I paid £299.95 + £99.95 for the keyboard from John Lewis, worth every penny. I have had this product for nearly a year now, and it has surpassed my expectations.

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I LOVE this tablet. It really is an excellent machine. It can be quirky occasionally but other than that great except it should have full phone capabilities without VoIP like Skype or Viber. It should be at the very least an available option. Scenario in network settings have phone functions switch and when you turn it on have a pop up say are you sure carrier charges will apply. Then have in network settings Text messages that can be switched to on and when you do have the same pop up. When you turn these features on it should allow you to either manually enter mmsc settings or automatically detect them. Also the phone app and message app should show up in the app list like the administrative apps do when you click show administrative apps. Please Microsoft this is a huge feature many many people desire. To the positive, This tablet has everything you could possibly need in a portable productivity PC except phone features Office check Email check One Note check full web browser check multitasking check full function keyboard case of superior design check. I love the keyboard design and how it looks like a premium binder. That was completely genius on Nokia's part. Also that read in any light screen is amazing! Windows needs multitasking in portrait mode though. Also better support for third party Bluetooth active styli would be great but heck Nokia did this better than Apple did for products marketed for the iPad. Overall pretty decent tablet.

  • Best gadget I've ever owned; bar none.

    Overall Rating

I openly admit, before I get going, that I am most definitely a PC and not a Mac. I have never been endeared to the iPad because you're so stuck with using the Apple ecosystem for everything and while I appreciate how many people love Android the hardware is often insufficient for a smooth experience. I bought the original Surface RT and while I liked it, it was slow and I soon sold it on. When the Surface 2 came out I was tempted, mainly because of the kickstand, but I was swayed toward the Lumia 2520 because I could potentially have 4G on the move, plus I have a Lumia phone and, well, I like the build quality. 5 months on and I have no regrets. Throw in a 64GB microSD card, a GiffGaff sim and I have a device that easily runs for 12 hours on a charge (in use# and allows me to go anywhere and do anything in full HD. The screen real estate is a big plus compared to the original Surface RT and the screen itself is beautiful to look at. The Rear Camera is surprisingly good and the front mic captures audio nicely too. It's quite light but solid as a rock. For work, I use it to demonstrate the functionality of our MLE #Firefly# and IE11 #Modern UI version# is a tidy browser. The full IE on the desktop is great for when I'm actually using the device with a keyboard, although not being able to install Silverlight is a big downer; can't watch BTSport, for example. Apps: well that's a Microsoft issue to deal with although in truth I am not longing for any app in particular to arrive on the platform. I'm not one of those people who installs 500 apps because they can, but hardly ever, if ever, uses them. I have 50 or so and they are in regular use. Games are generally great although there are some graphics glitches here and there, presumably because of the Tegra chips used in most other RT tabs. I take my 2520 with me pretty much everywhere and thanks to the SD card I have a load of my music and video with me too. OneDrive has now become a seamless addition to the O.S and it all works beautifully together with my desktop and my phone. I had to buy a specific USB cable to allow me to plug in a regular USB device #really, that should be in the box as it would not be obvious to someone buying it that they couldn't use a regular USB stick# but they're only a few quid on eBay if you know what you're looking for. However, it's a massive oversight that not everything you need is in the box...a sleeve of some sort would be good too. It may not be 'cool' to really like Microsoft tech over Apple, but I do like Windows 8.1 on a touch device. Nokia #r.i.p# created the best RT tablet, which may not mean much compared to the success of the iPad, but for versatility, performance and compatibility, I can't imagine anything but the Surface 3 Pro being more all-round great than this tablet, but I really don't have the money for one of those. All in all, a fine tablet in its own right, not just a fine Windows tablet. This would be a 5 star "excellent" review if the device was bundled with everything you need and it seems a little bit tight that it's not, but the device itself is great, no question.

  • Great hardware, but RT...

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

This one is pretty challenging. The hardware is just wonderful. The screen is bright, easy to read, super responsive. Movies, games and apps look great on it. Battery life is good, It's really nicely designed and feels great in the hands. Definitely more comfortable than an iPad. I love it that it has a micro SD slot (64 more gigs of storage for super cheap). So, about that software. If you're just using it for Office (especially OneNote), social media and browsing, it's actually fine. Core functionality is great. RT never really took off, so the app selection is pretty poor and infrequently updated. The frustrating part is that some apps that are meant for RT do not work properly on the hardware in this tablet (Secrets and Treasure, Glacier Blast, and several others). They either frequently crash, don't load at all, or have massive graphic glitches. If it weren't for the lack of software support, I'd probably have given it 5 stars. Not holding out hope for it running Windows 10 either.
