      This is the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 component update to address Knowledge Base Article Q818822.

      A set of Application Programming Interfaces (API's) is available that allows programmatic control of Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) on Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 runtimes. This API can be used to programmatically control all EWF functionality currently available through EWFMGR.EXE.

      1. Download Q818822.exe from this page.

      2. Execute Q818822.exe, and expand the contents into a temporary folder on your machine.

      3. From the temporary folder, execute Q818822_XPE_SP2_X86_ENU.exe on a machine with the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 tools installed.

      4. Copy ewfapi.h and ewfapi.lib to a folder for inclusion in your custom application

      5. Refer to ewfapi.chm and ewfapi_relnotes.rtf for complete API documentation and samples.


      The Q818822_XPE_SP2_X86_ENU.EXE package will automatically import updated and new .sld files into the current database specified in Component Database Manager. It will also copy new binaries into the Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 QFE Repository folder.

      Some of the .sld files may also require importing new repository objects. The new repositories will be created on the repository root holding the main Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 repository.       After importing this update into your database, add the following
      component to your configuration(s) if you wish to use this security
      update:
