windows server & system center
The Windows Server & System Center (WSSC) group at MSIDC works on technology components for two products: System Center™ and Windows Server™.
Microsoft Corporation’s System Center helps an IT Manager work on environments across traditional datacenters, private and public Cloud, client computers and devices. Using these integrated and automated management capabilities, the IT Manager becomes a trusted service provider for business. System Center captures and aggregates knowledge about systems, policies, processes and best practices so that businesses can optimize infrastructure to reduce costs, improve application availability and enhance service delivery.
Microsoft Corporation’s Windows Server powers many of the worlds' largest datacenters, enables small businesses around the world, and delivers value to organizations of all sizes in between. Windows Server 2012 redefines the Server category, delivering hundreds of new features and enhancements spanning virtualization, networking, storage, user experience, Cloud computing, automation, and more. Simply put, Windows Server 2012 helps transform IT operations to reduce costs and deliver a whole new level of business value.
The WSSC team at MSIDC works on data protection and disaster recovery capabilities for Microsoft Server workloads such as File, SQL, SharePoint and Exchange running in a physical data center or a virtualized private Cloud. It also offers seamless data protection for Windows desktops and roaming laptop users. It also works on providing consistent data protection and disaster recovery experience for applications and data running on private Cloud, service provider Cloud or Windows Azure.
The team also works on technologies that are central to enterprise and Cloud networking, including addressing, naming, connectivity, and network management, eg Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server and client, Domain Name System (DNS) Server, unified Remote Access Server (RAS) comprising Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Direct Access (DA), Site-to-Site VPN, and Web Application Proxy (WAP), and IP Address Management (IPAM) system for administering virtualized enterprise and Cloud network services infrastructure. Multi-tenant, Cloud-scale solutions are the recent focus of this group and are being deployed by Azure and other hosters.More
