Overview
The Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
provides the latest product updates to Office 2000 and offers you the highest
levels of performance and security available for Office 2000. It can be installed by enterprise,
small business, or individual users.
Office 2000 SP3 addresses issues described in several previous Microsoft Security
Bulletins as well as in several previous downloads. For more information, see Previous releases.
Note Office 2000 SP3
includes the Outlook 2000 SR1 E-mail Security Update, which
changes the way Outlook handles certain types of e-mail
attachments. However, the new e-mail
attachment handling behavior is customizable. For more
information, please see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article,

Internet Mail Only option, please read the important information in

Outlook Reminders Are Problematic After You Install Office Service Pack 3,
before updating to Office 2000 SP3.
Microsoft recommends that users install the Office 2000 SP3
update using the Office
Products Updates site. This site will detect your Office installation and
prompt you to install exactly what you need to be completely updated.
This
can minimize the time you spend
downloading this update.

Office 2000 SP3 will install successfully even if one or more of the
publicly available updates listed above have already been installed on your
computer.
Office 2000 SP3
also includes stability improvements developed as a result of user input from
the
Error Reporting Tool as well as from Microsoft Product Support feedback.
Note If you want to install any public updates released after Office
2000 SP3, you must first install SP3 for those updates to work.

Note Prior to installing SP3,
you must install
Office
2000 Service Release 1a (SR1a) Update.
Before you install this update, make sure that you are currently using the
SR1 versions of all the Office 2000 applications that are installed on your
machine.
To determine if Office 2000 SR1 is currently installed on your computer- In Microsoft Windows®, on the Start menu, click Settings and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Make sure that all Microsoft Office 2000 installed applications listed are
the SR1 versions.
- Do one of the following:
- If the SR1 versions are not listed, you need to install the
Office 2000 Service Release 1a
(SR1a) Update.
- If SR1 is displayed, then you already have SR1 or SR1a installed on your computer, and you only need to install SP3.
If you are running Microsoft Windows 2000, Me, 98 or 95, it is strongly
recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Windows
Installer. Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) and Microsoft Windows XP
include this version of the Windows Installer. Otherwise,
Windows Installer 2.0 is available as a separate download. For more

To ensure the integrity of your Microsoft Office installation, the Windows
Installer may require access to your installation media or network installation
location before applying any product updates. This is a technical requirement of
Windows Installer-based software patching and is not intended to be an
anti-piracy measure. For more information, please see the Microsoft Knowledge

Windows Installer must have original source files when you apply a patch.

If you are using Office 2000 SR1 MultiLanguage PackFor complete Office 2000 SP3 functionality if you are using the Office 2000 SR1 MultiLanguage Pack, you need to install both of the following:
- Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
- Office 2000 Service Pack 3 for Office 2000 SR1 MultiLanguage Pack.

- You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
- Download the o2ksp3.exe file from this page by clicking the Download button above and saving the file to your hard disk drive.
- Double-click the o2ksp3.exe program file on your hard disk to start the setup program.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
Office 2000 SP3 and Microsoft Access
If you are a Microsoft Access 2000 user, please follow these steps before
installing Office 2000 SP3:
- You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
- Download the o2ksp3.exe file from the Microsoft Office Tools on the Web site
by clicking the Download button above and saving the file to your hard
disk.
- Locate the three acwz*.mde files on your hard disk. The English version of
Office 2000 installs these files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\1033 by default. The files are: acwztool.mde, acwzmain.mde, and
acwzlib.mde.
- Rename the three files from
step 3 acwz*.mde files to acwz*.old in the same location.
You can do this by right-clicking each file, selecting Rename, and typing the
new file name. Or, in the command line, you can type: ren acwz*.mde acwz*.old.
- Double-click the o2kSP3.exe
program file on your hard disk to start the setup
program.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
Instructions for use:Once you have installed this update, use Office 2000 as you normally would.
To remove this download:There is no uninstall feature for this download.
