I bought this product in January 2014 and within the 18 months of usage of this phone , the motherboard got defected and It requires 3500(INR) to get it repaired which is almost 70% of the cost of the new phone. My usage was just normal, I didn't use any heavy apps as such. Finally I would recommend you to not buy this product and switch to better phones in this range

I use for 2 yrs. For an mid range phone it can do many thing on phone that can be done on laptops. For e.g- Office it can be done on my phone share it on big screen by microsoft apps its appealing and keep my work done. It has sexy camera with such cool apps by microsoft that enhance your cameras experince. It can play high graphic games without any utter or hiccup. But some games that are not completely degin for lumia may not response god but and store dose not update new games that are are launched quite a time ago on andrion and ios but some game i like to talk about that are halo, mirror edge are available on iphone and microsoft. Touch response is great. New update that are impressive. Cortona is awesome it easily beat Google talk and competitive to siri. And many thing that can make you happy. Its worthy investment and happy investment.

How this phone got good reviews is beyond me. I've had nothing but issues with it. The microphones broke, the battery life is a joke, the power button stopped working, and now the volume buttons have stopped working. And I've owned it less than a year. Frankly, this is a terrible phone. It's just not reliable enough to use for business OR personal reasons.

M using it from 2 years it runs smoothly without hanging prob games also runs smoothly even in 512MB ram camera is also good but battery backup is not sufficient for these phone only 4 hrs in 3G (H+)Battery Is only 1430MAH. Built quality is excellent touch is really super sensitive works even in gloves.Main cons. is the battery it requires more than 2000MAH . Overall i recommend this phone to friends.

I have been using this phone for over a year. I had switched to Windows due to number of reasons 1. Performance issues - till date I have not faced any performance issue (system crash, app crash, unusual reboot....) unlike my other Non-Windows device. 2. UI - UI is great, its very easy to manage your things. 3. Inbuilt Office - good to have. comes handy 4. Built quality - my phone has survived banging in the hands of my son, free falls, water with no problems. The Plastic back panel looks bad as I have white colored but...you can change that 5. APPs - I dont know what people look for and say number of apps are less at windows app store and more in Android. I have seen the standard apps available. 6. Battery - used to last well but recently started to give problems due to high usage 7. Only thing I dont like about it was the camera. A very bad camera. I dont know how one could call that a 5MP...I gives a picture worse than 2MP and that too without flash. I liked the Windows OS so much that if I have the choice I would go for a high end Windows phone

It performs great! I've owned a Lumia 920, HTC 8x, Lumia 822, and a few older WP7 devices. This, just like any other Windows Phone, feels smooth and fluid throughout. Sometimes when a larger operation (filtering a photo, opening a big app) takes place, you will notice a "Resuming..." screen for a split second. Otherwise, it's every bit as smooth as any other Windows Phone. You can't really say that about an Android device at this price point. Pros 1) Price! This phone can be used as a daily driver, backup phone, "I dropped my other phone in the toilet and I'm not due for an upgrade" phone, or even just a device you use with WiFi only. 2) The software library for Windows Phone is getting there. It still doesn't have Instagram, but it has everything else you could really want. 3) Comcast Xfinity remote lets me control my TV/DVR with this thing. It's like I got an amazing touch screen smart remote for free. 4) First-party Xbox apps. Xbox Smartglass lets you use this as a makeshift Xbox 360 controller. Xbox Live lets you keep track of anything like achievements, recently played, your avatar, etc. 5) MixRadio lets you stream lots of music. FOR FREE! 6) Nokia HERE (Maps, Drive) are awesome! You can download GPS maps for offline use. Use it in the car for turn-by-turn directions, or use it while you're out and about for mapping. If this was the only feature this device had, it would be worth the money! 7) You can swap the cover! If you get tired of the plain black color on this device, you can easily buy a colored variant from Nokia and just swap it out. The yellow one looks amazing! Cons 1) There's no Front Facing Camera, so video calls are out. 2) It only has 512MB of RAM, which limits some apps. I've noticed very few that haven't been able to install, and none of them are deal-breakers. 3) The camera is 5MP, has no flash, and rather poor. But - it's still comparable or better than any Android device I've tested at this price point. 4) The display isn't the best, but what can you expect for the price? It's crisp and readable at WVGA resolution, and the nature of Windows Phone really makes up for any other shortcomings the display may have. The colors are pretty good, considering it's an IPS panel.

  • Tries too hard to please?

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

Phone asked for my assessment; I gave maybe 3/10. Expanding here. Just temporary use of a phone that was for display, and cheap. Latter likely reason it has a bad touchscreen: can't get all characters. This is main cause for woes, low rating. Various updates, but still an issue. Also, not so happy with way it works. Reading facebook, all too easy to not scroll as intended but instead taken to view a photo or whatever [not because of malfunctioning touchscreen, I think] Home page is very busy; auto features include some things I don't want - birthdays of contacts, most of whom aren't such friends I really want to know if it's their birthday. Flicking pages left/right doesn't always take me to places I hope to go. The list of applications etc isn't too nice; I haven't seen how to set up screen[s] with apps I favour. Settings - so many things to choose from! All seem to have equal priority; part of what seems a bit of over eagerness to please, somehow. As tho phone should take it a bit easy. [even this request for feedback coming as part of enthusiasm to please. I know the market's competitive, sympathise with Nokia's fading. But still, somehow could relax a bit more.]

  • Nice phone, limited apps, terrible durability

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

I bought this phone, because it offered great value. It works well as a phone, the touch screen and predictive texts are great. It makes phone calls, there is a lot going for it. However, if you want a particular app, the chances are that there isn't a windows phone version of it (even my bank doesn't bother). Then there is the screen. First up the touch diffuser just broke, I bought another invalidated the warranty, which was worth nothing and replaced it. It was a bit ropey and eventually stopped working. I got another one. I dropped it on paving and the screen broke. I try to treat it carefully, but 3 screens in 15 months is a problem with the phone. My Nokia 3210 survived a long time.

Overall, considering price, ability to fix the phone if something goes wrong, and all the things it does that the others don't, this windows phone may just be better than its $600 rivals. Once the update comes out, if it does for 520, it's market for apps from google play store will also prove to be superior.

The only problem with the 520... The screen goes blank while you´re on a call and you have to wait for the other party to put the phone down ... unfortunately there is nothing you can about it ...What a shame !!!! I don´t recommend it at all.

Hi everyone, i have read so many reviews towards this lumia 520. i am from past 3 months, as previously my mom used this phone as it was her first windows mobile, and find some difficulty for few days, later she used to explore each and every feature of this phone and for surprise she got every thing. later she told that camera is some what issue , when i took over the phone from my mom, later i updated to windows 8.1 Denim update. it was awesome, cortana... i like it very much. but it needed offline too, Microsoft should provide a file manager software, while third party apps are not so user friendly, recently one of my colleague update his lumia 520 to windows 10 developers preview. but for shocking, the navigation keys stopped working, tried to restore back but failed. tried to hard reset but still failed.. now he was facing lots of problems like unable to call as like previous, cant go back from an app, etc... by seeing this i stopped updating to windows 10 developers preview. #Microsoft, please fix this problem, notification bar needs some change if all the notifications are cleared the notification bar should automatically closed. found some touch issues recently like over sensitive touch. default apps are not loading so fast, and resuming of apps are little bit slow. ONE MORE THING. PHONE IS GETTING RESTARTED WHEN THE PHONE IS SWITCHED OFF DURING CHARGING. please make this bug fixed. if user wants to charge his phone by switching off the phone, please allow the phone to be in switched off position. (for all windows mobiles). menu in the settings should be in alphabetical order. Please do provide some more colors in "Start+Theme" and color effects. please provide equalizer for music and sound.

  • Excellent phone call quality, no tethering

    Overall Rating
    ★★★★★ ★★★★★

The phone call quality on this is awesome - perhaps the best compliment came from a Radio Australia interviewer. I'm in New Zealand and they asked what my mobile number was. I said this is my mobile. Oh, they said, sounding surprised, it sounds like a landline. So if it can fool people who work with audio all day, every day, this phone must be good. However, for me, it's big let down is tethering. The phone broadcasts a wireless link to my PC on Win7 but it always drops out after a few seconds. Yes, turned off battery saver and data sense and any other bells and whistles I can find but still no luck. This makes it unusable for me when I am out in the field and need to file.
