      The Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) is an attack-surface reduction tool for the Microsoft Windows Server® 2008 operating system. SCW determines the minimum functionality required for a server's role or roles, and disables functionality that is not required. The Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 Windows Server 2008 SCW template supports both new and updated site system definitions and the required services and ports.

      • Installation file for x86 operating system.........scw.msi
      • Installation file for AMD64 operating system.....scwamd64.msi
      • Installation file for IA64 operating system........scwia64.msi

      Download Instruction:
      1. Click the download button associated with the correct installation file for your server type.
      2. Do one of the following:
        • To start the installation immediately, click Run.
        • To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.
        • To cancel the installation, click Cancel.
      3. To install the template into the SCW tool run the msi installation file.
      4. If you’re using Windows Server 2008 SP2, after installing the msi, go to %windir%\security\msscw\kbs, edit sccm07lh.xml and change ServicePackMajorVersion="1" to ServicePackMajorVersion="2" at the fourth line.
      5. In a cmd prompt, running in an administrative context on the local server:
        1. Unregister any prior SMS templates by entering: "scwcmd register /d kbname:SCCM"
        2. Register the new SCCM template file pointing to the correct file location. An example is:
          "scwcmd register /kbname:SCCM /kbfile: c:\windows\security\msscw\kbs\sccm07lh.xml "
