We invite you to install this pre-release version of Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 (formerly known as code name "R2") into a non-production environment to learn how Commerce Server 2009 R2 provides an improved business management experience, enhanced cross-channel enablement with multi-tier development and deployment support, and a more streamlined deployment experience. It is recommended that you install this pre-release on a clean machine and consult the Quick Install Guide for manual steps required.

What's New: The following are new features that have been introduced since the Commerce Server 2009 R2 September 2010 CTP release:
      • Deployment scripts and sample configurations for two-tier and three-tier deployments.
      • Support for rich Internet applications (RIA).
      • Business data updates to live Web sites.
      • Multiple orders from a single shopping cart.
      • Updated solution files and extensions to Visual Studio and SharePoint Designer.

Note: Given the pre-release nature of this release, not all functionality is currently available. The release is for evaluation purposes only and is not intended to be used in a production environment. The March CTP will stop functioning on December 31, 2012.

Note: this pre-release has only been tested on English platforms. Future versions will be verified on localized platforms.
    • The download is an .iso package used to create DVD images. Click the Download button on this page to start the download of the .iso image. This is pre-release software and is best installed on a clean machine. Thus, please take note of the following:
      • You must UNINSTALL all previous Commerce Server versions. Using a clean system that does not have a previous version of a Commerce Server installed upon it is strongly recommended. Please consult the Quick Install Guide to successfully install and configure the CTP.
      • Important: If you are deploying the Solution Storefront, there are manual configuration tasks that you must complete after running the Commerce Server Configuration Wizard. Please refer to “Setting up the Solution Storefront” in the Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2 Quick Install Guide for more information.
      • The Commerce Server 2009 R2 product documentation is available as an installable component during setup. Once installed, you can review the documentation by going to Start>All Programs>Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2>Documentation>Commerce Server Documentation.

      • CTPs are for evaluation purposes only and are intended only for short-term use in a development and test environment. Although the Commerce Server team strives to minimize breaking changes and offer an uninstall/install upgrade path between pre-releases there may be occasions where the best upgrade course for you will be to start with a fresh environment. Note: This CTP will stop functioning on December 31, 2012.
