Overview

If you want to see more than the first three lines of unopened messages in Microsoft Outlook® 97, the Three-Pane Message Preview Extension constructs this layout for you. With it, you can read an entire message in a third pane without opening the message. By moving the border between it and your message window, you can adjust the size of the message preview to see as much of or as little of the selected message as you choose. You can use the message preview by itself or with the AutoPreview view.

Instructions



To install this download

  1. You may want to print this page to use as a reference when you are offline.
  2. Download the file from this page by clicking the Download link above and following the instructions in the dialog boxes.
  3. Quit Outlook 97, if it is running.
  4. Double-click the Ol3pane.exe program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.


Instructions for use:

To customize the three-pane message preview:
  • To change the three-pane message preview settings, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Preview tab.
  • To hide the three-pane message preview, on the toolbar, click the Preview button.


To remove this download:

  1. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
  2. Click Add-In Manager, click Preview in the list of installed components, and then click Remove. (If you clear the check box, Outlook disables the extension instead of removing it.)
