The log collection tool will collect available setup logs from Visual Studio 2005, .NET Framework 2.0, and SQL Server 2008 and newer versions on your computer. Windows event logs are also collected for VSSetup, Windows Installer, and System Restore event sources. If you encounter any setup issues and contact Microsoft Support or Visual Studio on Microsoft Connect, you may need to provide these setup logs.

Please follow the instructions below to gather Visual Studio and .NET Framework installation logs. The log collection tool creates a compressed cabinet of all the Visual Studio, .NET Framework, and SQL Server setup logs and other supporting logs at %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.
